“Quirky, unusual, interesting and different!”

What a quirky place! We stayed in many varied types of accommodation on our trip but this was far and away the most unusual! On arrival, when we eventually found it, the first reaction was 'oh dear, not too sure about this!' but once you adjust to the surroundings and look around inside you realise that there's everything there that you need - the room is clean, as is all the bedding and towels, there's a reasonable amount of space, a good shower, the area is generally quiet - breakfast was in another part of the building via a different external entrance in yet another interesting room chock full of memorabilia - no sign of anyone to ask so a bit of exploration required to understand how to access hot drinks etc but a plentiful spread of fresh produce. A short climb up the adjecent steps led up into the town and the river was just a few metres away - parking for our motorcycle was on the street nearby and whilst not ideal it was OK. As a one off visit I could certainly recommend it but couldn't imagine staying more than a night or two.

Great place. The bed is very confortable, the room, bathroom and toilet room very clean. The breakfast was delicious. I do recommend this place.

Excellent value for money. Generous and delicious breakfast and very convenient (ready at 8am and you can come downstairs between 8-11am). Hosts made an effort to send clear instructions about check in and also shared some good suggestions for places to eat and what to do around (in the room), which is always very appreciated. Lovely little terrace at the front with a table and chairs. Bathroom had everything we needed which is appreciated (conditioner, face wash, shampoo, etc.) Wonderful location, perfect to explore Gaillac. Off a pedestrian streets (quite a few stairs; for those with specific accessibility issues maybe good to keep in mind). Free parking is available nearby but depends on availability (not guaranteed). I'm not sure it's always easy to find a spot. We managed to find one at the parking lot rue du Quai more easily (it's bigger than the other one by the Abbeye). Overall excellent value for money and would recommend if in Gaillac or visiting nearby.

Outstanding atmosphere

Excellent value for money. Ancient building in an ancient part of Gaillac taking you back to former times. Lots of great restaurants nearby, a Sunday Market (other days too) full of local produce and great atmosphere. Great breakfast...a real treat and a real bargain.

The value for money was exceptional with a marvellous breakfast and a very hospitable host in Cyril.

Cyril, the owner, could not have been more helpful. When our travels were changed by a strike, he was able to move around our booking and made things as easy as possible. The stress-reduction was extremely helpful. There were many useful pamphlets and travel details left for us to work out what we were doing. The kitchen (we had the unit upstairs for most of our trip) was well-catered for and easy to use. I know France is full of ancient buildings - this was incredible. Mindblowing to this Australian. The breakfasts were delicious. That local bakery is dangerous for the waistline.

The chambre d'hôte is located in a very old building that has been sensitively converted. Room was quite spacious and bathroom was very nice with a good shower. The breakfast was excellent - a little of everything - jambon cru, cheese, fruit, cereal, bread/pastries. Cyril gave me all the information I needed to find everything and helped me choose a place to eat in the town. There was an information sheet in the room re things to do in Gaillac - the Musee d'art is excellent. Overall - Highly recommended!
