“Staff physically locked us in our room and extorted money out of us.”
Absolutely horrible. Hotel staff physically locked us in our room and refused to allow us to leave until we paid the amount they were over charging us. Our booking was for two days and would have costed us around ¥14.000 (~€90). They demanded ¥20.000 (~€130), locking us in our room until we paid that amount. It was nearly impossible to communicate with them considering the staff didn’t speak any English. Even after calling booking.com’s customer service they confirmed that the hotel was over charging us. The customer service representative called the hotel to tell them to charge us the right amount and to let us leave. The hotel still refused, keeping us locked in. I ended up paying the full (over charged) amount just so that we would be release from that room. This all happened within the first day of us is arriving there. We ended up leaving and going to a second hotel because we were so uncomfortable there (you would be two if staff locked you in your room). In the end this experience costed me way to much stress and money (not only the amount the amount they over charged but also the cost of my phone bill from calling customers service from abroad and booking a new hotel on such short notice). If you want some masochist escape room where you have to navigate language barrier while being extorted, this hotel will be perfect for you! If you’d like a stress free stay where your person isn’t threatened I suggest you stay faraway from this place. Also, this hotel ended up being a love hotel. Nowhere on the page in that mentioned, would have been nice to know.
