The house is great and the terrace where the breakfast is served is overlooking a wonderful garden with a wide variety of birds are popping up, from hummingbirds to toucans. The house is also very close to the Finca Steller, Children's Eternal Rainforest.

“Magical place, loved every bit of it!”

Fantastic place. Comfortable, clean, welcoming. Beautiful location, requires a car (as anything worth visiting in Costa Rica). Highly recommend bird watching with Luis, one of our Costa Rican highlights. If you have a car, don’t stay in overly touristy La Fortuna, this is really where it’s at.

My wife and I stayed overnight at the lodge on February 23rd for some bird photography. We received a very warm welcome and were given a thorough explanation of everything about the lodge and the surrounding area. We were then served delicious coffee, and the bananas at the bird feeder were immediately replenished. Several bird species quickly noticed the fresh food and posed beautifully for close-up photos. The lodge rooms are very comfortably furnished, and there's another bird feeder right outside. A delivery service can be arranged for dinner, which worked very well. Unfortunately, the weather wasn't perfect for our photo tour the following morning, but we still had a great time. A visit there is definitely worthwhile.

we loved to stay at this place. The people there are super nice and helpful and make you stay special. Breakfast was amazing! The view and all the birds there is becautiful as well. The room is super nice and the bed is soo comfortable. It is a very nice place to stay for 2-3 night, relaxing, watching birds and making day trips to la Fortuna and surroundings. We also did the night walk there and we loved it!

“A dream come true”

It was absolutely amazing. I honestly can’t imagine another place where you can see this many birds. It truly felt like a bird paradise. Breakfast was a dream… like watching a nature documentary, but in real life and right in front of you. The owners were incredibly kind and really go out of their way to make you feel comfortable while showing you all the beautiful birds around. They also offer night tours (which we sadly didn’t get to do since we only stayed two nights), but that just gives us a reason to come back.

Marce and Fabio were so welcoming and the breakfasts every morning were delicious. There were so many birds on the feeders, including motmots and toucans. We also walked around the surrounding woodland and saw a trogon. On the night tour we saw an opossum and many frogs! Marce and Fabio were very accommodating, helping with our food deliveries on a couple of nights, providing a dehumidifier when my camera equipment got wet after a rainy walk and surprising my boyfriend with birthday cake!

Loved the setting of the property, I felt like I was staying with friends at a cabin. It was the perfect place to relax, birdwatch and meet new people! Fabio was super knowledgeable about birds and other wildlife in the area, the birdwatching tour was super fun!! Marcela was really helpful providing recommendations for places to go for dinner or things to do.

Wow. What can I say about my short stay at Birds and Breakfast? It wasn't long enough! I will definitely be coming back. Fabio, Marcela, and the rest of the staff were very welcoming right upon check-in. Their place has endless pictures, books, maps, and even souvenirs. I appreciated Fabio and Marcela's knowledge of the species and also recommendations of activities as I often asked them for suggestions. The breakfast was the best we had in all of Costa Rica! And, the view made us want to just stay there all day. I look forward to recommending this place to others and staying here when I am back in the area.
