Situated next to Storsjön Lake, this inn is less than 2 km from central Forsbacka and 15 minutes’ drive from Sandviken. It offers a restaurant with a bar and furnished terrace. It was my second stay there and we enjoyed the atmosphere. They made a lot of renovation the last time so the walls outside are looking real pretty and bride now. In addition partly new bathrooms and TV. Our bedrooms were both comfortable. Quiet neighborhood and surrounding.

“Great stay in historic location”
Historic building. Nice older but good room with double doors, water cooker, new private bathroom. For me the bed was comfortable. Good continental buffet breakfast. Very friendly and helpful host who gave me information about the Astrid Lindgren movie "Madicken/Madita" which was partly made there. Possiblity to have a great daily lunch in the restaurant which I tested another stay before and which gave a feeling of this movie.

Old inn just outside of Gavle. Could use some restoration in the rooms. But it was clean and comfortable. Very nice and accomodating owner that without questions helped us with late check-in and providing a crib. Recommended for travelers!

“Quiet, comfortable and good price value.”
The Forsbacka Wärdshus is a privately run lovely historic hotel between Sandviken and Gävle. Our room was spacious enough and the bathroom was one of the warmest during our whole trip across Sweden. It was a perfect start and a perfect end of our vacation. The breakfast buffet held everything we needed even several types of cooked eggs, cereals, ham, cheese and more.

“Romantic, older accommodation, with a very competitive price.”
In a world where hotels often look quite similar, it was lovely to get to a romantic old place. The staff was also very service minded. Beautiful breakfast room. Too bad I was there alone and only for 12 hours. Very good price it was too.

“This property has it all!”
You experience history in each and every room on entering the building. Most amazing is the restaurant's huge ballroom with its arched roof decorated with woodcarvings and paintings. High-class restaurant with a great choice of fish, game, meat and children's dishes. We whiskeylovers as we are got a choice of whiskeys perfectly chosen after our tastes and a great introduction to these by the whiskeysommelier. Wonderfully situated by the lake and river you can take a walk to Forsbacka and it's beautifully renovated historical industrial site of former iron mining and production. Simply a great experience, we loved it!
