Great value for money. Best location for sunset and the pool is a delight. The rooms are a good size and the beds are comfortable. I was leaving early before breakfast but they made me up a pack up to take on the bus with me.

An absolutely wonderful place — the best hostel I stayed at in Guatemala in every way. The staff were lovely and always ready to help. Everything was very clean, and the dorms were extremely comfortable. The beds provided a great sense of privacy, and the bathrooms were spotless. The breakfasts were very good, and the location is beautiful, with an amazing view of the lake. I highly recommend it!

“Avoid at all costs”

The roof FELL onto my head in the middle of the night! Staff were reluctant to give me a new bed and refused me a refund for days until I demanded it. Also a bug in the roof. (All in photos) Dirty, unhelpful staff, can’t sit up if you have a top bunk and my bunk has no curtain on the end of the bed so everybody could see into my space.

“Excellent value for money hotel in the centre of Flores-Peten.”

Hotel Peten is located on the Isla de Flores, just in front of the lake. I loved waking up in the morning and having breakfast in front of it, while reading my book. A special mention to the breakfast; you get to choose between different options, which include American Breakfast, Guatemaltecan Breakfast, and Pancakes. I also booked my trip to Tikal via reception. As I booked the 4:30 am tour, and I could not have breakfast, they prepared me a lunch bag to take with me made of a sandwich, fresh fruit salad and a pack of biscuits. Just for your own knowledge: you cannot bring food inside the national park - only fresh fruits like bananas, apples, and packed snacks like crackers.

“Extremely outdated room”

It was in the center of the island. Easily accessible, nice pool area and restaurant. Staff was nice. They prepared food for my early journey.

Even though they are bunks they are double beds built into the walls. This makes it significantly more private and comfortable than a normal hostel bunkbeds. You also get access to the hotel pool and breakfast which are both great.

“Value for money only when using the pool”

I had to leave early, so I was given a (big) take-away breakfast! The pool is really refreshing when the sun is beaming. I could store my bag until check-in was ready. I felt very welcome.

Great location on Flores island. The staff was very friendly and the breakfast good, with view on the lake on the terrace.

Our personal highlight was the pool area with stunning sunset views! We didn’t feel like swimming in the lake so this was just perfect. Beds were comfortable and you were able to put stuff in the fridge of the restaurant if you needed to. Private bathroom was nice and lockers were big and for free (just have to leave a deposit of 100Q for the keys). AC was super cold but that was amazing! Delicious breakfast.

I’ve been around the world quite a bit and this is one of the best budget places I’ve stayed at. Breakfast included in the dorm-room option was the regular hotel breakfast menu from the in house restaurant, and the pool area was delightful. They accidentally double booked me when I extended, so some dude was in my bed when I came back from Tikal. They quickly sorted it out by putting me in a private room in their sister hotel next door for my remaining two days.
