“Special place to stay”

A very unique experience; location is wonderfull, basic but clean, very special to sleep in a casbah. Food was good & staff were really wonderfull. Beautifull to walk around the palmtrees. I could recommend this if you are searching for something special.

We had an amazing time at the kasbah! Ali is a very good host that will make you feel comfortable. We had the best tajine of our trip, walking to and visiting the nomads was a special experience, and the restoration story of Ali was very interesting. We also loved that he does so much for and with the community, especially in creating jobs and agricultural land for women in the village.

After more than 20 years of traveling across Morocco, I can confidently say this is one of the most special places I’ve ever stayed. We truly couldn’t have found a better place. From the moment we arrived, everything felt genuine, warm, and deeply welcoming. Ali is simply an incredible host. His kindness and sincerity create an atmosphere that instantly makes you feel at home. You can tell he genuinely cares about his guests and goes above and beyond to make every stay memorable. His hospitality alone is reason enough to come back. The food was absolutely amazing — so much so that on our way back from Merzouga to Fes, we made a point to stop again just for lunch. Every dish felt homemade with heart and authenticity. This place is perfectly located as an overnight stop on the way to Merzouga, but it’s far more than just a convenient stop — it’s a destination in itself. Peaceful, welcoming, and full of soul. Honestly, I cannot praise Ali’s hospitality enough. If you’re traveling in this region, do yourself a favor and stay here. It’s the kind of place that stays with you long after you leave.

“Absolutely fantastic stay”

We loved everything. Ali was super host, kind and generous. The tagine was amazing, one of the best ones we had in Morocco, simple and delicious. The building was all restored and unique. Ali gave us a tour around casbah, and he was so passionate and knowledgeable. Meeting the host like Ali made our Morocco trip so memorable and special. It was definitely the highlight of our trip. We would love to go back again.

“The best”

It’s a really authentic place, don’t expect a lot of luxury, but you’ll have everything you need and make memories for live… Ali makes you feel very welcome and you’ll learn a lot about the history of the region. Hé even takes you to meet a local Berber family… Don’t hesitate about this one… it’s SO worth it! Also… if you consider to buy a rug on your holiday stay here more than 1 day and go with Ali to the local coöperatieve… you’ll find rush much cheaper and you fund the locals in the best way. Also if you can take Some notebooks for the local school: do it!

“The perfect authentic stay”

Ali is am amazing host and we cannot recommend this Kasbah enough. It‘s basic but everything you need for your stay. The Tajine is delicious, you can stay in the kitchen while he‘s making it and he‘s sharing the recipe freely. If he offers you a tour to the nomads, you have to go. That’s an authentic and once in a lifetime experience.

Very traditional accommodation. The hosts are super friendly and helpful in all matters. The free tour of the old village was also very informative, and you learn a lot about the history. This accommodation is highly recommended and worth a visit.

Definitely a recommendation to stay with Ali. He gave us a lot of extra information about the kasbah. We got to learn a lot about Morocco in very little time. The tour around the kasbah in the morning was very nice, we even got dates and a scarf for the desert as a gift. Ali really puts his heart into the stay, which we appreciated. The language barrier caused a tiny bit of distance, but Ali really tried his best to manage between English and French which was so nice.

This was our favorite accomodation on our 2 week trip through Morocco. Authentic casbah, absolutely amazing scenery (you can walk through the oasis, it's like in paradise) and very knowledgeable, hospitable and friendly owner. We would definitely come back.

Wonderful location in a 200 year old, carefully renovated Casbah. Host is superb and gave me a tour of the complex including historical facts. Highly recommend!

Rustic gite on the road from Azrou to Merzouga, great for an overnight stop. Host was very friendly and helpful, took us to a Berber tent to have tea and freshly baked bread. Dinner and breakfast were good. Ziz gorge and some kasbah ruins made for a nice stroll around the gite.
