“A hidden gem in Ella 💎”

Our experience at Yolo was absolutely amazing. The room we stayed in was newly built with great attention to detail, and it had everything we needed. It was very comfortable and spacious, and the view was incredible. You wake up to a beautiful sunrise every morning. The food was also delicious and really added to the overall experience. The host, Vimukthi, and his family were always welcoming, smiling, and incredibly helpful. They went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. They also offer their own family transportation service, which made our trip even more special. Vimukthi personally took us to some of the most beautiful spots in Ella and later drove us to Yala National Park at a very reasonable and convenient price. We highly recommend this place to anyone looking for an authentic and unforgettable experience!

“Amazing food and an incredible family”

We absolutely loved our stay here. The food is not to be missed - probably the best we had during our 3 week trip in Sri Lanka. The views from the balcony are top notch; especially sunrise whilst listening to all of the birds. What sets the cottage apart is the amazing hospitality from the entire family - so generous, warm and kind. We truly loved our stay here and were so sad to move on.

“Lucky to find it!”

We were welcomed by a lovely family and we felt true and honest hospitality. The cottage is in a location 8 minutes outside Ella by tuk tuk and the family can provide the transfer in a very good price. The room is much better than the photos, probably the cleanest accommodation we stayed in Sri Lanka, where you feel that every detail has been taken care of. The location is excellent, in the nature, sleeping and waking up with the sound of birds. Very good local home made breakfast. Also note that every time we are looking for accommodation we check all hotels and reviews and we are very happy to have found this one. We totally recommend it.

Can't get better in Ella. A one room guesthouse in the hills with a great terrace for meals and relaxing, even a view from bed if you like. Friendly old couple greeted us and cooked us an incredible Kottu as we were hungry when arriving. Very close to Ella rock hike start and they can give you all the instructions to reach it.

The incredible friendliness and welcoming hosts prepared the most amazing food every morning and evening! Best in Sri Lanka! Loved the view as well! From there hiking and relaxed nature experiences are just perfect!

“Perfect stay with the most beautiful view don’t miss out”

The balcony, the view , the food , the family , everything was perfect they completely went out of there way to make my stay perfect 😍 this was probably my favourite stay in Sri Lanka 🇱🇰 Even when I asked to go to Ella rock for sunrise it wasn’t a problem , they are so kind and helpful I am just sad that it was booked out and I couldn’t stay longer 🥹

We loved our stay here! The family were very warm and welcoming - always smiling and ready to help! The views were beautiful. We liked the peace of being a bit out of town and also enjoyed the walk to Ella along the railway track. VImukthi gave us a tuk-tuk ride to Little Adam's Peak and arranged taxi transport on to our next destination. The food was amazing - we ate all our breakfasts and dinners here. I also joined the family for cooking one meal which was great fun! We would certainly recommend!

“A tranquil oasis in the hills of Ella”

What a lovely little corner of the world! We absolutely loved our stay at YOLO- away from the noise of Ella, it was a calm and peaceful oasis. The family were so welcoming and the owner either drove us where we needed to go or got someone else to do the distance from town didn’t really bother us. The bed is the comfiest we had during our trip and the room was huge. The views from the apartment are incredible and waking up to the sounds of nature was amazing. Last but not least the breakfast- wow! Freshly made every day with plenty of variety whilst being very traditional. Do not miss!

We had a fantastic two-night stay with Vimukthi and his wonderful family. The bed was very comfortable and the view is absolutely stunning. We had dinner there on our first night and it ended up being our favourite meal of our entire trip to Sri Lanka. We also arranged for Vimukthi to drop us to town and collect us in the evenings, and everything went perfectly. The whole family were so warm and welcoming, which made the stay even more special. Highly recommend!

“Foodie paradise”

If ‘Yolo’ was a restaurant it would win three Michelin stars. Everything about this place is perfection: comfortable room; wonderful hospitality; picture postcard views. But for me it’s the food which is the stand out. My only regret ? I didn’t get a cooking lesson

It was the best stay we had in whole Sri Lanka. It was a tip from a good friend, and we are so happy we went, it was wonderful. The family is incredibly kind, the food (we had breakfast and dinner every day) was outstanding. The room perfect, the view beautiful. Quiet in the mountain, but close to the city of Ella. They help you to plan a day schedule with things to do if you want, or you can just relax. Thank you so much for the great care! Highly recommend!!

Cozy place in the green, with small kitchen place next to the main room! Really good food and in general a super friendly and lovely family! They took really good care of us, arranged a scooter rental and brought us to the morning train :) You can open the windows in the morning and have a great view even from bed!

“A saviour for our trip!”

Clean, well looked after and private room. We moved from a damp room which was really filling us with dread having to head back there at the end of the night and were warned online everywhere in Ella was the same due to the humidity, not YOLO lovely cottage. The room had huge opening windows to air out the cottage and a large mosquito net to allow for sleeping with the windows open to avoid the damp which seems to be the worst thing about staying in Ella, Good job!
