Overview
The stunning Hotel Marqués de Riscal, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Elciego, is located in Elciego, in La Rioja’s Álava province. Designed by Frank Gehry, this avant-garde hotel offers free WiFi, a spa and 2 restaurants. Most of the unique rooms at the Hotel Marqués de Riscal feature a distinctive zig-zag window seat with views of the valley. The black marble bathrooms are fully equipped and include a hairdryer. The Vinothérapie Spa, by Caudalie Marqués de Riscal, offers a range of grape-based treatments. There is also an indoor pool, hammam, Finnish sauna, fitness centre and massage services. The Marqués de Riscal Restaurant serves dishes from Northern Spain, while the 1860 Tradición Restaurant offers traditional Spanish cuisine with a modern twist and using local produce. Breakfast is in the style of a tasting menu. At the top of the hotel there is a rooftop library-lounge and a wine bar. You can enjoy panoramic views from here or from the 8 terraces. The hotel organises wine tours round the Marqués de Riscal vineyards and the Vivanco Museum, Europe’s largest wine museum. Hotel Marqués de Riscal is easily accessible from the AP-68 Motorway which runs from Bilbao to Zaragoza.

“Loved our two night stay and ticked on our bucket list”
Rooms were spacious and luxurious with amazing views. Breakfast was above average but not excellent and I would suggest asking them to cook eggs well or it is very slimy. The restaurant near to reception area sterile and lacked atmosphere if inside. Best experienced outside. Staff were super friendly. Gym and spa facilities excellent. Great to offer free bikes to explore

“A distinctive hotel within acres of vines and a world renowned winery.”
Without doubt this is a distinctive hotel, but you know that before you go. We had rooms in the main building, which was a bonus (there are only 16 rooms) because the rooms are as unconventional as the outside of the building. A big bathroom/toilet/area. All the other rooms are in annex opposite the main building and reminded me of brutalistic UK 60s architecture. At the bottom of the annex is a nice spa and pool area with outside sunbathing right next to the vines. The wine tour that comes with booking the hotel is very good. We were fortunate to be there in early October when they were harvesting the grapes so saw the whole process. The wine tasting, with snacks, was good and the wine shop is laid out well.

Service was exceptional, we were early and the room wasn't ready for us, so they gave us a voucher for a drink on the terrace while we waited. Room was large with a great view of the vineyard. Spa area was beautiful, with a swimming pool and sauna with a terrace overlooking the vineyards

Super concierge service. Magnificent architecture and surroundings. Views on the vineyards and a 16th century church. Professional tour of the vineyards and tasting of the wines produced on the estate. Excellent spa facilities (swimming pool, sauna, hamman) with views on the vineyards. Spacious suite with very comfortable large beds!
