“Great location, great price and great people!”
I stayed at Mailers Hostal for 2 weeks. It’s in a great location. Perfectly positioned halfway between the beach (where you can surf) and the town (where the supermarkets and restaurants are). There is a kitchen that you can cook in, meaning you save money on eating out. Mailer organises tours and is really knowledge about the area so you can ask him for all the local tips to enjoy el valle to its fullest! The hostel is a lot better value than the hostels on the beach and he really makes you feel welcome and like his house is your house!

Everything is perfect in its category. Don't expect a five star hotel accomodation. This is a eco lodge, an excellent one. Reference point is camping. People working there are very friendly and ready to help you. I liked the atmosphere.

“Great place for jungle tours”
Nice place to stay with good value for money. Mailer and his family are great hosts. The location is great - just a few minutes walk to both the beach and the town. I went specifically looking for jungle walks and mailer is the best guide around for this it seems. Very knowledgeable about the various flora and fauna of the surrounding jungle and he is able to take groups or individuals on both day and nighttime tours

“Great place to stay out of the crowd, and amazing host!”
Great accommodation (you can hear the waves from the ones at 80k), spacious, and in between the village El Valle / The beach El Almejal. The price is really good, it's cheaper than the hostel nearby... while you have you own room! The room is spacious. It's the calmer place I have been to in Colombia. Mailer is also a great host. You can go on a night tour in the jungle with him, he can arrange tours to El Tigre waterfall. Anything you need (recommendations, tuktuk...), he'll answer to you shortly. All his family members are also very kind (especially Mailer Jr.)

“Beautiful and chill stay! Highly recommend.”
Clean rooms and clean kitchen. The owner is super friendly. And the atmosphere has a good vibe. The owner also offers free water as the next shop is a bit further away + he also offers cold cola and cold beer for a reasonable price. We would definitely come back!

Mailar and his family were very welcoming and Mailar has a lot of knowledge about the Pacifico and the jungle especially. I recommend that you take his night tour in the jungle - he is the leading person in town for this and is very experienced. If you are looking for an authentic stay with a local family then this is a good place for you.
