We loved this place. It was a good size for 4 of us and really well located. It was a bit old and basic but clean and everything worked well. The host was so incredibly kind as well.

Location was out of town but near one of the walks. It was quiet and had everything we needed.

Great location for walking - very close to Laguna Torre walk start. Good price. Good heating throughout building.

“Homey, small but spacious hostel”

Great hostel. It's actually a house made into a hostel, so the capacity is low = even when it's full, there aren't that many people there. Two big bathrooms with hot showers. Big spacious kitchen, well equipped. Cabinets in the rooms to store things - bring your own lock. Lots of spaces to hang out and there is even some platform on the first floor where I could practise yoga and chill. Right next to the Laguna Torre hike.

“Budget friendly”

Firstly, this is an extremely budget friendly hostal. It was $24USD for two people in a private bedroom with shared bathroom for one night, but I insisted on paying a bit more. In fact, with the exchange, I think we paid $11,000ARS (about $17) for both of us. The emphasis really is on budget though. It's the bare minimum of what you need. For example, towels aren't included and the facilities are simple and dated. Not a complaint per se, just context for the price. The hosts are very nice and easy to reach by WhatsApp. We were able to leave our bags at the hostal after check out while we did the Fitz Roy hike. They even let us have a cheeky shower when we returned (this time with hired towel) before getting bus back to El Calafate (thank you!!). Had we stayed a bit longer, we'd also have done another route, one of which starts immediately outside the property. The start of Fitz Roy is about a 15 minute walk through the village. All round good location on the edge of El Chalten. I'd recommend this place to anyone wanting an ultra budget friendly option with amenable hosts.

“Good hostel on the outskirts of town”

Good hostel on the outskirts of town, right by one of the main trails. It’s basically a two storey house converted into hostel. Friendly owners live next door. Place looks a bit dated but actually is clean and well maintained. Dorms are very spacious and not overstuffed with too many beds. Bathrooms were clean Kitchen has what’s needed for cooking. The hostel is very sociable therefore it will especially suit solo travellers . You can easily team up with others to do hikes.
