The accommodation was right near the station. Our room was very comfortable with two heaters to keep us warm on a VERY cold night. The house itself is stunning, 110, years old and lovely to be able to experience that.

“Welcoming and cozy”

Very welcoming host. The place was fantastic, a very nice kitched and confy shared room. A very spacious bedroom. Showers and bathroom were very clean and full of accessories. Super reccomended place, one of the best of all trip. Plus: a coin wash machine at 1 minute by walk, a big combini store at 5 minutes.

This old vintage wooden is exceptional and seems inside to be stuck in the 1950's. Really confortable and warm inside when pouring rain and cold outside. You can eventually run to the train station if necessary... Our hostess is doing her up most to assist or accomodate guests' needs/wishes. I highly recommend the shared house zen.

Everything, especially the hospitality of the kind caretaker, Kazumi-san, and the "zen" room setup and decor (fresh flowers and persimmon from the garden were a beautiful addition)

“Wonderful place to dtay”

Wonderful accommodation, exceptionally clean, warm, comfortable, tatami mats, interesting furniture and lampshades, plants, fully fitted kitchen - lots of character! Surely the host must be an artist? Just over the road from the bus stop and the train station. Genky supermarket close by. We spent 3 days visiting the Eiheiji Buddhist Temple complex. Recommend the 4 mile paved walkway all the way from the accommodation to the temple - greatvto walk or cycle. Host is very welcoming and helpful. Thankyou!! We had a great stay with you. Very highly recommended!!

This wonderful little house is full of traditional Japanese character and such good value for money if you are travelling on a budget. The owner is very friendly and informative. The location is fabulous opposite the picturesque railway station with a restaurant and shop nearby. A well stocked self catering kitchen allows for cooking your own food and we slept very well. A great experience!

“A night in a traditional Japanese house”

The authentic Japanese house experience, the location was very convenient to get to from Fukui station and good access to Daihonzan Eiheiji via bus. The host was helpful with showing me around the property even though I checked it a bit late and there were plenty of amenities, even if I didn't end up using them since I only stayed a night. I also liked the kotatsu, I probably spent a solid hour just melting under it after a long day of hiking. The bed was also very nice - pre-heated and actually soft unlike most of the other hotels I've stayed at in Japan which I prefer. Lastly, there were very clear instructions in English in the room with pictures so checking out was a breeze.

Everything about the Shared Zen House, and our hosts far exceeded our expectations. The house is a beautifully designed and maintained property. Our hosts were extremely friendly and helpful.

The house is authentic and cozy. The room was large, with a nice view of the garden. The kitchen was very useful and well-equipped. It was about a 60 second walk to the train station - so convenient!
