Absolute gem in the Eastfjords, if not the whole country. If not one of the best ones in the world. I honestly don't know where to even start - how can we describe the unique experience, warmest welcome ever, hospitality all those boring 5* Marriott people could learn from, truly inspiring stories, furry pack wagging their tails / meowing (Toki, Askja, Birtna and the Left One), best waffles in Iceland and... rescuing us with his monster truck Hilux when we got stuck in the snow :))) Thank you Árni for opening your home to us. Hopefully see you soon. Btw - we came with our baby daughter without a feeding chair totally prepared to hold her on our lap for all the meals for the next couple of days... Árni prepared his son's beautiful old feeding chair for us upon arrival - thank you so much for this, this was such a nice touch ❤️ (I can only hope we managed to clean it spotless after her messy meals) Alex, Lucas and Vigdís

Loved our stay here, we felt at home the host was so lovely and Toki the dog was such a sweetheart! The property is beautiful if you have time you could do some very scenic walks around the property. The location was good for us because we had car. The room was clean and the facilities were great, definitely recommend staying here for a more authentic Icelandic experience!

The kitchen is well equipped and Arnason a good host. The 3 km unpaved road was OK for a normal car.

Arni was a very friendly and helpful host. His suggestions for outings were great. We enjoyed watching the puffins at Höfn which was a village worth spending a bit of time in after a lovely drive across the mountains. We also visited the gorge he recommended on the way to Myvatn. The smoked lamb and dried fish gave us an unexpected taste of Iceland and we really enjoyed his travel stories and knowledge of the country.

The host is a very friendly man. We felt at home. We enjoyed staying here and had good conservations with Arni. The dog Toki is a very friendly dog. We loved hiking with him! Arni is now our friendly for life! We like his humor!

I loved my stay at the Country House Tokastadir, probably the best place I've stayed on my six-week Scandinavian trip this summer. The room and bed were comfortable and cosy, and the facilities provided everything a self-catering traveller requires. Most importantly, I think it was the truly authentic Icelandic farmstead setting which was unique, as well as the fantastic host - a wise, experienced and well-travelled gentleman with plenty of stories to tell. He cares passionately about his farm and guests. I would suggest some of the reviewers on here book a five-star hotel next time. If you are looking for an authentic, cosy and warm Icelandic experience, I couldn't recommend this place highly enough. Thank you Arni for a wonderful stay 😊

The host is great and very easy to talk to. We felt very welcome. The rooms are small, but comfy and clean, the kitchen is clean and there is a big extra fridge for the guests, you can park directly in front of the house. We played with the dogs and where introduced to the lady of the house, a grey cat. Would come back anytime!

The host and his son were very welcoming, helpful and wonderful. They went out of their way to assist me. Their son picked me up for free from the center of town. He drove me and other guest around the mountains near the house. They brought me to a local lake - which was an excellent experience for me. In the morning the host made us really good breakfast, and coffee.

Nice hillwalking rural area with beautiful view of the glacial river Lagarfljót and the northern part of Egilsstaðir area.

We had a wonderful stay in Arni's house. We recommend strongly to stay there. We had such a lovely experience exchanging conversation with him and benefits from his good advices on what could we do in this country. We had the opportunity to have a delightful breakfast on the terrase with a view on the mountains under a bright sunshine. The price is adequate to the quality of the stay and everything was pleasant! Thank you Arni!
