“Quiet location with good access to beaches, very freindly host!”

Great location between the two local beaches! Our host was super friendly, made us a lovely breakfast on request on our first morning. The room is simple but clean and comfortable, with AC and a private bathroom. The kitchen has a water filter which we used to save money and plastic on new water bottles.

The lady that owns this place is so friendly and very helpful. Also a nice, quiet location close to blue beach which is beautiful :)

“Peacepul place close to 2 beaches.”

Our host was nice and kind. Location was perfect for us, as it was very close to both blue beach and hiriketiya beach. Breakfast was amazing! There is a nice terrace where you can sit and relax from where we spotted birds squirrels and monkeys. We liked that there was a little kitchen we could use. And also that they hace a water filtration machine from where you cand refill your watter bottle. All spaces were clean.

Great place for the value. It is located on a really interesting street, a lot of animals around. The bed was comfy. Ac was working. Place is located uphill.

Based a short walk from the main beat of Hiriketiya, you will enjoy the more peaceful surroundings and excellent blue beach nearby. The owner is lovely and always willing to help. They have a great set up, including filtered water which is a really nice touch. The property is well maintained and a joy to stay at.

The lady that keeps the house is so warm and welcoming. She made us feel like at home, offering us a much needed and delicious homemade juice after several hours of travelling. Everything was clean and tidy. A very nice experience staying at Muru's place. We will return! 😁

“Near blue island hostel”

Lovely attentive family. Made you feel at home. Place is a little far from rest of main hub but its five minutes walk to blue beach island which is the best. I really enjoyed sitting around eating peanuts with my host and her daughters at night.

“Money stolen”

While staying at this place, €1300 euros went missing from the inside pocket of our backpack while we were out. The room was locked by the lock the provided and the backpack was inside. There was no other guest but us. The only people at the house was the lady host and her family. After realising we searched everywhere and the money didn’t show up. We let the lady know and she assured us nobody went in the house during the day. She told us she had an extra key of the lock hidden in the closet from her family. After we left the place and the initial shock worn down, we realised she didn’t do much to help. She didn’t offer to call the police or search. After we left she didn’t send a message to follow up after the room cleaning, etc. The only thing is that she suggested we wouldn’t have to pay for the 2 nights we stayed. But after she didn’t bring it up again and so we ended up paying. Her main focus was for us not to leave a bad review. We honestly could have fought more, but were so overwhelmed but the situation that just wanted to leave the place. We don’t want to blame the lady but the fact is the door was closed and the money went missing and she had access to the key.

The lady that hosted us was very friendly and welcomed us with an amazing papaya juice :D We had our privacy upstairs and had a nice kitchen with dining area and a terrace to relax. The neighbourhood was nice and quiet with a 5 minute walk to Blue Beach and 10 - 15 minutes away from Hirikiteya Beach. Recommended if you are travelling on a budget!

“Homely, safe and quiet”

Had the loveliest stay here. Was beautifully welcomed with a delicious smoothie on the balcony. Was a perfect spot with a short walk to hiriketiya and the beaches. Also was able to rent a scooter from the property right away which was super handy. The bunk beds are double beds and very comfy with an ensuite so felt like luxury :)

“Good and basic.”

This is a very good homestay if you do not have your own transport and you are looking for a place in walking distance to Hiri and Nilwella and if you do not plan on cooking yourselves. Very clean, everything worked - water, fans, plugs, toilet, cooker... Higlight of equipment is an electric water filter for free use. Also the hosting family is very friendly, caring and helpfull. Good upper and lower terrace, enough space to dry your things. It is located in a residential area with narrow streets. If you plan to arrive by car it is a bit of a challenge. But parking place is superb. But it is not the quietest place. During night dogs and cats are barking and screming quite a lot and around 8 a.m. the TukTuk from local bakery will start its sales in surounding streets and the vehicle constantly loudly plays a tune. No sleep for 30 minutes after 8 ;) But if you like fresh bread in the morning then it is great. The rooms are not very big and quite basic, just a bed and thats it. If you do not need more and you prefer the walking distance to the beach, you will like it. For the beach distance it is a good price. We really enjoyed sitting on the upper terrace and enjoing the wild animals. You will see a lot of them during the day.

We had the most wonderful stay at Muru’s place—it truly is a hidden gem! Nestled away from the busy tourist areas, it offers a peaceful retreat while still being just a 10-15 minute walk to Hiriketiya Beach (Muru even showed us a convenient shortcut!). From the moment we arrived, we felt so warmly welcomed. Muru is such a kind and thoughtful host, and she made us feel right at home. We were greeted with a delicious papaya smoothie, and the hospitality throughout our stay was exceptional. The room was spacious, spotlessly clean, and the bed was incredibly comfortable—perfect after a day of exploring. Breakfast in the morning was absolutely delicious. The area also has some fantastic family-run restaurants serving homemade local food, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Our experience was beyond amazing. Muru’s warmth and care truly made our time in Hiriketiya unforgettable. We can’t recommend this place enough—if you’re looking for a peaceful, welcoming, and spotless place to stay, this is it!

If you want to feel Sinhala's hospitality try Muru's place. You will be amazed by it. Such a kind and generous family who are always welcoming you with a big smile. The house is in a beautiful and calm neighborhood near Blue Beach and Hiriketya beach. And a shop is nearby. I highly recommend Muru's place.

Nice local environment, family super nice. Easy to communicate, friendly, helpful, and respects one’s privacy. There was a super nice grocery near by- with the best beverages and delicious cocunats.
