Spending two months at Hasera Permaculture Centre during my master's thesis fieldwork in Nepal turned out to be so much more than just accommodation, it really became a home away from home. From day one, the family made me feel completely at ease. Their warmth, care, and genuine kindness created such a comforting space, especially while being far from home for an extended period. Govinda ji and Mithu ji, along with their beautiful family Bibek ji and Bigyan ji, Srinu didi, Rabina didi, and little Sunnu, they are truly special people, bringing this place to life in the most wholesome way. You never feel like a guest, but a part of the family. The farm is incredible and inspiring with strong elements of farm sustainability, regenerative practices and permaculture in place. The passionate farm tours they take you on are another highlight. You can really feel their deep love for the land and learn so much about permaculture hands-on. The experience of harvesting and eating food grown right there is something I always cherished. The open kitchen creates a beautiful farm-to-fork experience, where you can cook, and share meals together. Everyone was also so thoughtful and supportive, helping me arrange transport for my field visits and even packing food for me when needed. The extended “farm family", Monica didi and Sunita didi, added so much warmth to the daily life there along with Mo (the incredibly friendly farm dog), the cows and the fluffy chicken that loved being petted. The sustainable sewing workshop, an inspiring, women-led initiative creating handmade, reusable organic sanitary products and bags is also definitely worth visiting while you’re there. Overall, Hasera is not just a place that offers a stay and food, but a deeply immersive, nurturing, and authentic experience. Hasera is truly special. I left with not just memories, but meaningful connections and a sense of belonging I didn’t expect to find so far from home.

Permaculture heaven

The most appealing thing about Hasera is the incredible work that the family does to promote permaculture, and their incredible hard work and commitment to staying true to those principles. It was inspiring. I loved the farm/smallholding and that things like the tea that they served was grown on site, and that we could participate in processing the tea! Bibek was a mine of useful information and tips to optimal use of land. I also liked that guests ate together and we spent time with the family getting to know them. They are lovely people!

What an amazing place. And an amazing family with so much love and knowledge to share. I will definitely be coming back to do a course and learn more. Its astounding to witness how much productivity you can achieve from a small space on a hillside..... If your thinking of learning about Permaculture, this is the place for you.... Let's not forget the delicious organic food for every meal whilst  gazing at views of the high Himalaya....

An experience not to be missed!

A lovely family of wonderful people engaged in a very interesting permaculture operation on their small piece of land. Their commitment to train Nepali- or anyone interested in learning- is beautiful. As guests at the homestay, it is a great opportunity to approach these practices. One of the 2 sons (Bibak ) took time to show me around the land so I could understand how principles of permaculture can be applied - including Social permaculture, a very interesting approach to living today's challenges societies . I was very happy to experience living close to a family with strong values of openness and respect. The food served is flavorful, healthy and homemade. I loved spending a day at Hasera.

Everything was very nice. From the warm welcome, to the food and the view. The family is amazing and the stay is perfect for both just chilling around or help both in the farm or in the kitchen. Can't recommend it enough.

Exceptional farmstay with a wonderful family

I loved absolutely everything about this place! The family is very lovely and welcoming! I learned some basics about permaculture and the food was exceptional. I highly recommend staying for some days and becoming part of the HASERA family while supporting in the garden or in cooking, just reading a book or simply enjoying the mountain view from the terrace or rooftop.

Great experience staying at a wonderful family and learning about the Nepali culture.

Amazing experience, had great time with the family. I think what the most amazing about the experience is how lovely and great the hosts are, letting you in to their life and heart. Homely food and opportunities to learn about Nepalis culture. Also had a great time exploring the nearby villages and watching the great views from the Farmstay.

Wow, what a nice place! Thank you guys so much! I really enjoyed staying at your farm (it’s now my number one recommendation to everyone I meet that wants to discover Nepal) Don’t miss out going there! If you love eating incredibly delicious food, are interested in permaculture and love to be surrounded by lovely people you will definitely find them there. I really pay big respect for what you guys do, I think it’s so important that we take care of our nature and spread the knowledge on how to do it. Hopefully see you guys again someday.
