“Amazingly peaceful, a place to sit in the balcony with a book and enjoy the natural surrounds”

This place was so peaceful and the view from the balcony is superb. It’s a single lodge/room next to the families home and they are so friendly and eager to ensure you have a great time. Lovely home cooked food for breakfast and dinner. They do offer treks and guides but we already had one booked elsewhere. Would recommend, we stayed as 2 adults and 2 kids.

This is the best Homestay and Lodge i have ever been to during this journey so far. The familiy is awesome. Every single one of them is so friendly and do everything for you to have the most confortable stay there. The curry is the best i eate during this hole journey. The Lodge is very clean and the view is amazing. Rainforest feeling 100%. They organise a really good daytour for you trhough the rainforest for a very fair price. And they also bring you fresh fruit etc. to welcome you. If you want to get to know such a wunderful family and have a happy time in the rainforest, you should defenetly stay there. I was traveling alone and i think if you travel alone or with your friends or family, it's perfect for every group. A big thank you to the hole family. :)

Amazing property right on the rainforest run by a lovely family! The food was absolutely incredible and masala chai on the terrace was a highlight of the stay. We had everything we wanted and more!

A room with a great view! Loved to sit at the balcony and watching birds and other animals. A lovely couple hosted us and helped us with a guided tour in the rainforest. Breakfast and dinner good!

Lovely balcony. Very clean and comfy. Hosts are lovely people. They offer a great rice and curry as well! Also, of course, it’s incredibly close to the rain forest.

If you are looking for a quiet and cozy retreat right at the edge of the Sinharaja Rainforest Reserve, this is the place for you! You can literally watch wildlife, like the purple faced Monkey, white Monkeys and countless birds - right from the balcony. While the lodge is simple, it has everything that is needed for a simple stay. It offers a spacious bathroom with warm water shower, a big bed plus a third smaller one. Everything is held clean upon request by the owners, including a laundry service. The owners deserve a special mention! Such friendly, helpful and welcoming people. Often times we felt like part of a family instead of just customers. The food (traditional Sri Lankan cuisine or western cuisine) is delicious and prepared and presented with love. The owners also take “special requests” if you want to dive deeper into Sri Lankan cuisine, like Kithul Raa (Sweet Palm Wine), home grown Manioka Mallum (Cassava root with Coconut) and probably much more. Another special praise we want to give is to Ruan, a guide provided by the owners, for visiting Sinharaja protected area. While his price might seem rather high, it is totally worth it. He has deep knowledge and can show you some secrets of the forest. And did I mention that the rental price is more than reasonable? All in all, we were 100% happy with our stay at Sunshine Forest Lodge, would love to visit again and would recommend a stay to everyone visiting the area.

Very nice few, nice room and a lovely family. They organized us a very good tour guide for the Dschungel. They cooked for us. That was delicious.

This was the most beautiful accommodation we Had during our stay in Sri Lanka, the view from the balcony is amazing and the Host Family is super nice, welcoming and Happy to Help! Come Here, you won't regret it

Amazing location in green area. We spotted several animals while just sitting on the balcony (including monkeys, peacocks and kingfisher). The owners are very friendly and helpful, they made our stay very comfortable.
