“A charming and restful stay at Casa Marlui”

I stayed at Casa Marlui for one night, and it was a wonderful experience — like staying in a cozy guesthouse. The house is beautiful and full of lovely little details that make it special and charming. Don Luis and Doña Margarita were incredibly kind and attentive at all times. The house has a gorgeous garden with a view of the city, and we were even lucky enough to see a Bobo bird. The dog they have is adorable — I wanted to take him home with me! And we truly rested: sleeping there was such a peaceful, comfortable experience. They welcomed us so warmly. We are very grateful for their hospitality and for the beautiful experience we had at Casa Marlui. Highly recommended!

We started and finished our 6-week Costa Rica trip at Casa Marlui and it was a perfect decision. It’s a really nice place where you can have a rest and the hosts are really really kind! We made friends with the host dog, Bingo and enjoyed the fascinating garden, colourful birds and cute squirrels from the terrace! :) Thank you for the amazing breakfast again, the beautiful garden and all of your kindness! See you next time we are in CR! :)

“Dirty dirty dirty house.”

I cannot lie. Nothing. Their home is dirty. The floors, walls, doors, kitchen cabinets, need professional cleaning. So dirty. I couldn’t even heat up my left overs from a restaurant because the microwave is gross. They are not capable of cleaning. They need to use a professional service. There was dirt, bugs everywhere, finger prints on doors, walls, spider webs with bugs in them everywhere. Also they cook with pans that the non stick coating is gone and you taste metal/chemicals in your breakfast. Also a squirrel was on their kitchen counters walking over one frying pan because the door are open in back. The dog is cute but reeks of dirty dog. I just don’t understand who filthy people are. The home is in disrepair. The list is endless. Might look ok in pictures but gross in person. Photos: that animal poop on the bathroom counter ledge. That’s dirt and stains on doors.

I absolutely love our stay in casa Marlui You will feel like you’re visiting your family. Hosts are amazing and will make you feel very welcomed. You will enjoy spectacular sunsets over the city,delicious breakfast and a good conversation. If you’re not planning to stay around San Jose to explore Irazú , it’s a great place

The hosts were outstanding and very accommodating, the breakfast was better than any restaurant could serve, very authentic and very fresh fruit, more than enough to eat with desert too!

The kindness of the owner and his wife is incredible. A very nice first impression upon arrival in Costa Rica. Spacious room and bathroom, with hot water, provided toiletries and big soft towels. Delicious fresh-made breakfast included, served in the garden where is an amazing view over the city. Really good WiFi. Amazing and very friendly dog Bingo. I definitely recommend it to everyone :)
