The staff helped us with everything we asked for. They were also very attentive and took great care of my mom. They called a doctor when she felt unwell and were always willing to monitor her recovery. The food and facilities were amazing.

“Idyllic.”
One of the most beautiful places I have stayed in my life, and I've stayed at the Ahwahnee Hotel in Yosemite and the Banff Springs Hotel. The mountains are not as spectacular, but the hotel sure is. I love how they have brought nature inside with huge boulders coming out of the walls, and waterfalls and streams everywhere. The room was nice and warm and the staff came to light our fireplace as soon as I called. It was chilly and rainy outside, but inside was delightful. And if you don't have a room with a fireplace, there are at least two gorgeous ones in public areas with comfortable seating.

“Beautiful mountain lodge type retreat”
The breakfast was varied and good quality in a beautiful dining area with views of the surrounding woods. One morning there was a whitetail deer walking nearby. The whole place had a rustic mountain lodge feel with the necessary amenities.

“Valley Trout Farm and Chocolate Shop - the gateway to El Cajas National Park”
I was able to walk up the lovely river valley to watch birds. The hacienda feel - the trout farm, the llamas and the chocolate shop and the food was good. I was able to get to the Refugio Torreadea for some high altitude walking.

“A perfect stay in the mountains”
We absolutely loved our stay at Hosteria Dos Chorreras. It is the coziest mountain lodge with the most beautiful views. Marie, working at reception, was extremely kind and welcoming and helped us with transport to Cajas national park for hiking. Her love for her job shows in her enthusiasm. The views from the hotel are mind-blowing and our room was very warm and comfortable. The jacuzzi was amazing after a long, cold hike. Would highly recommend treating yourself to a night at this hotel. P.s there are many public busses going past the hostel which you can hop on to get a lift to the entrance of the park for 1-2 dollars. Don't use a taxi for 15 dollars.

We absolutely LOVED our stay at Dos Chorreras. We took a taxi from Cuenca, it's about 25-30 minutes and was $20. We stayed in the Bungalow, which had a GIANT whirlpool bathtub and we filled it twice and both times had really hot water. I did not try the rainfall shower but it looked like a little slice of heaven. The beds were nice, one very large bed downstairs and three twins upstairs so a family of 5 would be very comfortable. Water and wine (extra cost but we enjoyed it) in the rooms, and a giant fireplace with lots of wood so we had a cozy fire. The Cajas can get cold at night and we were out hiking until sunset so we came in to our room after our hike to find that the FLOORS WERE HEATED! This felt absolutely delicious to have a warm floor under your feet after a great hike in a stunning setting. We ate three meals in the dining room and they were all delicious and filling - it's traditional Ecuadorian food and our favorites were the locro de papas (potato soup with cheese and avocado), ceviche, and the giant empanadas (kids will LOVE these). In the mornings, you can see the resident deer from the dining room as well as the pack of llamas, horses, and some very friendly donkeys. There is a whole list of fun activities to do. This time we didn't ride horses, but you can do that there, and fish, if you want. They'll cook up your catch for you if you want it. Does not get fresher than that. The gift shop is extensive with lots of typical handicrafts, clothes, shoes, and some very beautiful fine jewelry. As someone who lives in Cuenca, I can attest to the prices of the things in the shop being completely reasonable. Sometimes, you find the same things in town for a little less than you find at a hotel, but Dos Chorreras does a good job of keeping the prices very close if not better than the prices in town. So, don't be afraid to buy yourself something if you're from out of the country. A great day trip as well as overnight...
