“The Best Hotel - exceptional”

We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Tanquerey. Gilles is an excellent host and looked after us perfectly. The attention to detail is superb. As well as the magnificent bedroom we had use of two fabulous living rooms, and there is a garden. We really loved this little Gem of a place in lovely Coutances, and without doubt is the best hotel we have ever stayed in. Thank you, Gilles .

The Hotel Tanquerey de la Rochaisiere is in a quiet street in the middle of town. Parking is available on the streets surrounding but is only available after 5 pm and before 9am. Gilles was a great host and was extremely helpful. The house is old and beautifully appointed. The breakfast was lovely with homemade jams and cake but also included coffee and croissants etc. We were made to feel at home. I would say that you would struggle to find anywhere that compares to it.

Gilles was very helpful, recommending restaurants before we arrived. The decoration and the ambiance of the house and our room was fantastic! It is a beautiful restored building with a small perfectly maintained garden all within walking distance of the spectacular cathedral. The breakfast was all delicious and very freshly prepared

“Last minute booking”

Fantastic B&B in a delightful period property. Nothing too much trouble for Giles, and despite our late booking due to a ferry cancellation he also did his best to reserve us a table in a local brasserie for dinner. Breakfast was excellent.

The home owner was very attentive as soon as we arrived. Opening his beautiful home to guests, he made us very welcome and it was a joy staying there for the first 4 nights of our trip. The ensuite bedroom was tastefully decorated as was the lounge/salon/breakfast room and we had access to the tranquil courtyard garden. Breakast itself was very tasty. We were treated daily to home made jams and pastries. Nothing was too much trouble and for someone who doesnt eat breakfast it was something I really looked forward to. I hope the next time we visit France we will get the chance to stay here again. I would highly recommend.

This is an 17 century family home full of character with a great host. Breakfast includes home made jams and home made yoghurt served on good quality tablewear

It is an early 18th century building which Gilles has restored beautifully. The interior was stunning, full of period peices.

Home made yoghurt and cakes, lovely coffee. Very convenient to centre of town, lovely churches/cathedral, and gardens. The town has great character, and local people seem friendly.
