Great location, clean,nice room.The lady who checked me in was friendly, but the older big man checking out was not very nice.I checked out very early to catch train which was cancelled, due to construction work,and he wouldn't let me back in,and nowhere to sit even as a 70 year old, for my 10 hour wait for an evening bus.

My stay at Hotel Sampiero My stay at Hotel Sampiero was unplanned, as bad weather during my hiking trip made me look for a room. I was happy to find one conveniently close to my location via Booking.com, right in the town centre — I was just glad I’d have a warm place to stay. I’m a backpacker travelling across Europe, and I’m not very demanding when it comes to luxury in accommodation. However, there were a few things I would like to mention. When I arrived at the reception, the lady told me that I wasn’t allowed to take my backpack to the room. I had never heard of such a thing before — that you can’t bring your own luggage into the room you’ve paid for. I have all my belongings in my backpack. She explained it was because of bed bugs! From me! Now, if I were a bit more sensitive, I could easily take that as an insult, as if someone was calling me dirty. I explained to her that I sleep in a tent because I’m hiking across the island, just like many other travellers. I’m a clean person who washes regularly. I told her I would rather sleep outside than be separated from all my belongings. Eventually, the lady kindly allowed me to take my backpack into the room, which I appreciated. When it came time to pay, the price shown on Booking.com was €64, and I added breakfast for €7 — so I expected to pay €71. However, I was charged €84, which doesn’t quite add up. The room itself was clean, with a lovely balcony, but I missed having even a simple kettle to make tea or coffee. I didn’t expect luxury, but usually even the cheapest accommodation provides at ,kettle a mug, and some tea or coffee. I decided to relax in the bathtub, happy to have one after my long hike. But while washing my hair, I noticed something brown stuck to the shower head. I thought it might be chocolate, so I touched it — and sadly, by the smell and consistency, it turned out to be human faeces. So there I was, in the bath, holding a shower head with someone’s poo on it.

Well located, Corte is a small place and there are many shops and restaurants à short distance from the hotel. Bedroom and bathroom were both spacious and clean.

Excellent location for local facilitites. Private car park. Friendly and helpful staff. Very clean and comfortable.

Nice large room in this really nice hotel. Ideal location for exploring the island by train. Only 15 minute walk up to the hotel from the train station. Daily housekeeping. Nice breakfast. Lovely helpful owner. Lift.

Fantastic ladies at Reception. They were very helpful with everything and gave a great tip for dinner. And the breakfast was delicious!

“Ideal choice for a hiking long weekend, understanding and kind hosts”

We came to Corte for a multi-day hiking trip in the area. Unfortunately, we couldn’t make it to the hotel on the first night because we missed the last train from Bastia. We contacted the hotel, and they responded with remarkable understanding. They didn’t charge us for the missed night, and when we arrived the next morning, they kindly let us leave our luggage in their office so we could go hiking before our room was ready. The hotel is easy to reach, and despite our room facing the road, the area was surprisingly quiet. We were very happy with the balcony and the spacious bathroom as well.

A real old cutie, basic with a good location, lift, close to old town and sightseeing, 15 minute walk uphill from the station. On the way to the Citadel and environs. Good value.
