“Welcoming, homely and convenient.”

It’s clean, comfortable and great location but still away from the noise of traffic. The hosts responded to my questions quickly and felt as if nothing was too much trouble. Sita is wonderful, so welcoming and breakfast was not only delicious but kept you going until dinner. However, the highlight for me was the dog, so friendly! Which sums up my experience.

So calm and relaxing. Sita the housekeeper was so kind and her breakfast was incredible. Also having Sadie the very calm friendly dog for company was great.

This location is a dream, right in the heart of the city, yet pleasantly quiet. The house and its interior are incredibly beautifully designed, without being cluttered. And don’t miss the breakfast next morning, Sita is really the best!

The host served us the most amazing breakfasts along with tea and coffee and fresh fruits. Simply amazing.

Lovely one night stay in this little oasis in the city with a nice homemade breakfast to set you up for the day.

It was like a home from home. The room was clean and very comfortable. Sita gave us breakfast at the time we requested and it was excellent. It is in a quiet location but easy to access the attractions. Glenn, the owner, was so helpful with all our questions and gave us some good advice. Overall we were extremely pleased with our choice of accommodation.

A really lovely and well kept property in a convenient location. Glenn and Sita were super welcoming and friendly. The breakfast made each morning by Sita was excellent, generous portions and so tasty - probably the best breakfast I’ve had at a guesthouse in Sri Lanka.

The communication with the owner who responded thoroughly, even though he was in Australia. The live-in manager Sita who will do anything for you. Not to mention her excellent cooking. The fixtures and fittings as well as the artwork made the place feel really high end. The mad dog that howled when the gate bell was rung. The ceiling fan was the quietest in Sri lanka The information booklets and maps illustrating the care that the owners go to to provide for their guests The pick up that was arranged at the airport

Hosts were lovely and very helpful. The home cooked breakfast every morning was absolutely delicious. Beautiful building with very large and comfy bed, property was spotless. Good location with lots around plus very easy to take a TukTuk wherever you want to go.

“Staying at " 27" was the best decision I have ever made. It made my holiday from start to finish”

Before travelling to Sri Lanka, and before booking my stay with Glenn and Fiona ( and mustn't forget Sita- without whom the stay would would not have been the same), I googled reviews 27 Spathodea's and all were raving how perfect this homestay was. They were all spot on. Glenn and Fiona's home is absolutely beautiful, and even though they were out of the country, Glenn in particular bent over backwards to keep in contact with me, both before and during our stay, to ensure everything was in place, He advised us on so many things that as visitors, we may may have over looked or been unaware of. Sita, their on-site manager was the same, smiling, generous with her time, always amenable to every request. Nothing was ever too much trouble. She even went out of her way to take us to set us up with sim cards, and show us nearest banks etc. She was kindness itself. Her breakfasts and evening meals were as good as any restaurant The location, though close to transport, and shops, was peaceful and quiet. I would 100% recommend this gem of a place to any fellow traveller. The hosts are kind, caring, generous and thoughtful. What more could you want.

Location was perfect for living in the atmosphere of authentic SriLanka. The traffic, (very exhilarating experience crossing the main roads) ,shops, food ,banks etc. Breakfast was delicious as promised from the comments in the guest book. Liked everything about '27'

“A room in a home.”

A lovely house. Nicer than the photos. Lots of information booklets written by the owner with personal recommendations. Love the are: walking distance to the Independence Monument etc. The bed was comfortable and the shower good.

“Home away from home”

Very calm, peaceful and home like place. I came here on work and stayed very comfortably as if it were home. Sita, her family and the friendly dog made sure I never felt home sick. Food was home like too. I just needed simple warm food and that was always available. Whenever I felt like I could easily order from a nearby restaurant through Uber Eats. The rooms are furnished well and the bed is very comfortable. So I slept well too without needing much of air conditioner as I love warm tropical weather. For all other things Glenn was always available over email.
