“Convenient location; no lift; poor internet via wifi”

Good location close to train station and on the main street near food & bike hire shops. Our room was good sized and a bit quirky with timber trimmings.

One of the main reasons I came to Taiwan was to hike Jiaming Lake, and because the pickup was very early in the morning, I decided to stay one night at this hostel near Chishang train Station. Before arriving, I was a little worried that Chishang might feel too remote, but it turned out to be incredibly convenient. The hostel is less than a 5-minute walk from the station, and there’s a convenience store right next door where I could easily buy snacks and supplies for the hike. The hostel also offers paid luggage storage and showers after hiking, which is perfect for mountain travelers. The host even helped with emergency contact information, which made me feel much more secure as a foreign visitor. Unfortunately, I twisted my ankle on the way down from the mountain. When the host found out, she immediately helped contact a local clinic and even took me there for basic treatment. It honestly made a huge difference. After finally taking a hot shower for the first time in three days and grabbing some Taiwanese fried chicken nearby, I felt completely alive again. On the train ride back to Taipei, I kept thinking how grateful I was for the kindness and help I received here. This trip to Taiwan didn’t just let me see the famous “Angel’s Tear” — it also let me meet people with hearts just as beautiful.

very convenient location, right outside the train station. The place fully self-service on check in and check out, if you need help you can message the staff on line or whatsapp, and they are accommodating to requests. If you are travelling with heavy luggage, do note that you will have to climb stairs to reach your room.

Bathrooms and showers are clean and comfortable.

The facilities are ok . No staff will serve you, you have to self check in. However, they will provide a video tutorial on how to check in.

“Strategic location, but lower your expectation”

The property is located very close to the train station which is 1 minute away. The cleanliness is tip-top, with free use of washing machine and dryer. Bumped into the staff when we went back room to get changed, she was super friendly and very forthcoming in giving recommendations on food and activities.

Quite close to the train station and clean facilities. Could pay for the towels and some toiletries at a low price, which is not too bad!

“First time staying here, but definitely returning”

The location was amazing, and it was just near the train station. There were also convenience stores just beside the hostel, including breakfast areas. Just this alone is a huge point to visit. I also find that there is plenty of space within the hostel including at the common washing / toilet areas. Self check in is helpful as it minimises the trouble but you do need to check in by 6pm. As a cyclist, I appreciate that there is also space outside the hostel to park my bike.

Perfect location as the hotel is super close to the Chi Shan train station. Clean and well equipped.

Great location a couple of minutes' walk from the train station. Very friendly staff helped me book a taxi. Bathroom and bedroom were both super clean.

People are so warm and helpful. The Brown boulevard was breathtaking. The food was very enjoyable and good value. Had two amazing massages on the same street opposite the police station. Everything was within walking distance. I highly recommend the foods Fuyuan stinky tofu a bit hard to find and the dumplings and vegetables diagonally opposite from the local market to your right when facing the market. I’ve posted the owner/cooks face. Soft and chewy dumplings and vegetables so fresh. The room was clean and the bed comfortable.

very near to train station so it’s very convenient. chi shang is a small village so the area near the hotel is the town/central area. can find decent food around there but must be before 2.30pm for lunch and 8-9pm for dinner. passed meal times then you settled for family mart of 7-11. quite a few around there.

I also stayed at another place in Chishang after this (which I preferred), but this one is super close to the station - probably the nearest. It's right on the main road. The rooms were also clean (although the one I was in had no windows, so felt slightly drab). Staff was not really around a lot of the times so sometimes it was a little difficult asking for help, but I had no issues communicating with them on Booking messaging. I left my luggage here and came back for it a few days later.

Super location with 1-2mins walk to the train station and easy access to all the attractions by bike. The lobby and rooms are cozy and stylish.
