“The good night's sleep, character, and hospitality call for a return visit.”

What attracted me to book the homestay was how much character it has and it did not disappoint. The bonus came in the form of its housekeeper, Mr Sky Wu, a local with excellent knowledge of the area and a deep passion in promoting 池上's rich arts and culture. We arrived late for check-in and not only did he wait up for us, he went all out to take us to a no-frills eatery with its own character, and array of delectable and value-for-money dishes that are full of local flavour. He even introduced us to all the public art and places of interest around town. Mr Wu truly went above and beyond his duty. His hospitality is highly commendable!

The host was super friendly and even gave us a tour of the lake and helped us take luggage to the station. He also helped us with equipment to cook dinner for our baby! Amazing view of the rice fields.

This accommodation was a big surprise for me. Even though it looks ordinary from the outside, inside it is a really nice little hotel with a very unique atmosphere. Our room even had a view of the rice fields. The man who runs the hotel was incredibly helpful. He arranged for us to rent an electric bike (a type of rickshaw), gave us all the information about what to see and where to eat. He let us taste various local products, really interesting. Finally, he took our luggage to the train station. A really nice and kind man.

The owner reached out and offered pick up from train station. The staff is easily approachable and friendly. He shared useful tips on places of interest and sent me off to the train station when I have difficulty to book a car/taxi. Great location to go around with the free bicycle rental.

The host, Star, was very warm and welcoming. Great host. The rooms were very clean, comfortable and a decent size.

Room was daintily decorated with view on the rice terraces. It was cozy and comfy. They let you take out bikes for free although those are the one gear touristy ones.

A very stylish and cosy hostel. The staff greeted us warmly and was very helpful. Our room was located on the third floor with a balcony view. It was very spacious with enough room for 3-4 people. The bed sheets were very clean and tidy and there was a decent size bathroom. The hostel has a shared fridge for storing food or drinks. Free bottled water was provided as tap water in the area is not suitable for drinking. There is a kettle in the room for boiling water. Our favourite part is that free bicycles were provided, making it very convenient to ride around town to access the supermarkets and convenient stores anytime of the day. This also made morning cycling in the rice fields easy to arrange, and the sunrise scenery is something not to miss out on. There are also a few great food spots such as 樂米燒 (rice dessert) and 大池豆皮店 (toufu restaurant) that are located just a few streets down from the hostel.

Mr Star is literally a star. He helped us rent a quad bicycle for 4 for longer than the usual time period in the shops. He's very knowledgeable with the local area and we had a great time there. He even drove us back to the station so we don't have to walk with our luggage there.

Great and warm thoughts all over the place. We love the interior and the hospitality of the host, Star. He really gave us lots of suggestions and a feeling of home. Comfortable bed, quiet place, great stunning view of the mountains. We will definitely come again.

The hostel is owned by a retired postal officer. The ground floor holds his displays collected over the years. The room is big and has ample area for luggage. The balcony is big and has a nice view of the paddy fields and the mountains. The bed was comfortable.
