“A delightful old house in a beautiful small village”

A beautiful small village and a delightful old house, that had everything we needed. It was very easy to self-check-in - the contact with Virginia was excellent on her side.

“A place full of character and history.”

We were just looking for a stop-over en-route, and chose this mainly because it was about half-way on our journey, but it turned out to be a real find. This is a lovely small village house with loads of character, with everything left old where this adds to the charm to the place (such as the old workbench complete with woodworking vice that has been converted into a side table in the living room) and everything modernised and immaculate where this is needed to meet modern expectations, such as the kitchen and seemingly almost new downstairs shower and wash room. The house is right in the centre of the village next to the historic church and the town's bar/ restaurant, where we had an excellent meal. Loads of ancient timber framed houses around the square and the village is packed with history, including the fascinating story of the infamous son on the village, Pierre Laval, whose archives are now held in the closed-to-the-public Château de Châteldon that stands above the town. However, don't let that put you off visiting this lovely village, which looks perfectly placed for cycling and waling in the surrounding hills.

“Friendly village location”

Location in small village near all amenities. Lovely building with character. Charmingly and simply decorated. Pet friendly with enclosed garden. Double bed very comfortable. Next to church, bells stop around 11pm. It was a thunderous evening but even the local band was out playing in the square. We were even invited to join their private party in the village hall!
