Overview
This hotel is situated along the river, at the entrance of the medieval town of Charlieu. It offers free Wi-Fi, and a garden with a children’s playground. Each air-conditioned and soundproofed room at the Relais de l'Abbaye is individually decorated in a modern décor, and is equipped with flat-screen TV and a private bathroom. Each room has a private terrace. l'Abbaye’s restaurant serves regional cuisine made with fresh local produce. During the warm weather, guests are invited to dine on the terrace, and enjoy a drink at the hotel’s bar. “Came for the Restaurant and stayed for the Magic”
We originally went to the Relais de l’Abbaye just for its restaurant, having heard it was fantastic—and it truly was! The food was exquisite, the kind that makes you quietly vow to return before dessert even arrives. The staff were wonderfully kind and made everything feel effortless. But the stay turned out to be so much more: I loved visiting the Museum of Silk (and came home with a beautiful piece that still turns heads) and learned fascinating things about medicinal plants at the Hospital Museum of Charlieu. I even bought a book about magic plants just to remember this particular day when life was more than it appeared. A truly fantastic experience from start to finish—can’t wait to go back one day!

Very calm location. Excellent restaurant - the chef created vegetarian dishes for one of our party. Breakfast was amazing, great selection of very fresh, excellent quality food.

“Comfortable, quiet and well positioned hotel with restaurant”
The hotel is well placed, with ample secure parking and a good in house restaurant. The rooms are spotless and comfortable and sheets / linen good quality. I now use this hotel as a regular staging post.

The location was perfect. 5 minutes to the town centre. The place was immaculate. The rooms were very clean and modern. The staff couldn’t do enough to assist you. Cannot fault it.

I was there for only one night on a business trip and it was already too good. The employees are very friendly, the rooms are very nice and the breakfast in the morning was delicious. I recommend it :-)
