So pleased to have found La Puesta del Sol after my original booking in Samara was far too noisy and crowded. Lovely location and with simple, clean and comfortable accommodation. Plus friendly and helpful owner and staff make for a good vibe.

Great location with views over the bay. Quiet area but has own high-quality bar and restaurant if you don't want to drive out. We had an amazing dinner there, great food. Close to the beach, which was long and quiet. Can buy beer and coconuts from a few vendors. Big, clean, comfortable rooms with air conditioning and balconies, which has seating and a hammock. We had 2 rooms next to each other as we were a family. Breakfast on site was great. We had a choice of a few. Can drive to nearest town for shops and lots or restaurants. Friendly host who spoke great English.I would recommend anyone stay here, you will not be disappointed.

Exactly, this is what I imagine a bed and breakfast to be like. It was truly fantastic, quiet, and beautifully situated.

Roberto is a fantastic host. He provided valuable information about nearby beaches and forest parks to explore, and the best restaurants with great views. The rooms are very clean and the breakfast is reasonable, with a variety of fruit and the possibility of choosing from 4 options. Carrillo beach is less than a 5-minute easy walk. The beach is very beautiful and quiet. For those looking for a place to stay quiet or with family this is the perfect option, there are a few restaurants within walking distance, and the restaurant that works in the B&B is amazing. For those who want to have access to more variety of restaurants, other types of commerce and some excitement, this is not the right place.

I loved this location, less than 5 minute walk to the very beautiful beach. I loved waking up to the sounds of the birds. Th breakfast was okay.

It’s incredibly clean, the breakfast was absolutely top notch (given that it was free) and Roberto was a very welcoming host. The location is 3 minutes walk to Carrillo Beach which is more beautiful than Samara beach anyways. We‘d come back any time!

Location was great with a good ocean view in most areas. Close to the beach.

A lovely place to stay in San Jose! Very close to the beach. both the room and the bathroom were clean and comfortable, and it had air conditioning. The breakfast is delicious, the best we had during our 2-weeks travel around Costa Rica! We haven’t dined in the restaurant there but the bar in the garden is great! Especially that there is not really where to go around town after dark (which is a big advantage as Puerto Carrillo is calm and peaceful) :) And last but not least, very kind and helpful staff!

Tipico breakfast with fruit is sufficient. Sea view of the room is spectacular. Close proximity to the beach by walking.

Lovely place, great host and fantastic food at the restaurant. I extended my stay and would have loved to stay longer. The beach is beautiful and in walking distance. One of the best places I have stayed in Costa Rica! Thank you Roberto for having me :)

Excellent hearty breakfasts

Perfect location above Playa Carrillo. Roberto is an excellent host. The breakfast options and quality were very good with ocean and jungle views.

“Great place to relax”

A really great place above Carillo beach. We had room 2 with a view over the ocean. Nice patio with a hammock and chairs to relax. Only 5min walk to the beautiful beach. Breakfast was very delicious with four options to choose from. It was also very quiet and our host Roberto was really very accommodating. We really enjoyed our three day stay here.
