A beautiful old authentic building, with just as amazing hosts. Great vegetarian food and breakfast with the added bonus of the cutest dog. Staying in Caro allows a pilgrim to walk a route that starts out in peace with only yourself, which then later merges with the napoleon route and other pilgrims walking from St. Jean Pied de Port. Ask host for directions

Fantastic gite in a beautiful location just outside of St Jean Pied de Port. Muriel was the perfect host after a long day on the bikes. Charming, speaks very good english, cooked a lovely evening meal and we really appreciated that she sat down and ate with us. Got to meet all the pets, the chickens, the cats and Suki the puppy is mischievous and gorgeous. A great find and would highly recommend.

Host were lovely, very friendly, made us a lasagne and had tea with them ..

+ The couple who run the place are very nice and I was very warmly welcomed and helped with any questions + In general, this is a very authentic place to stay just outside St Pied de Port in the French Basque Country + If you are travelling on the camino I would definitely recommend taking the short way to get to this accommodation Highly recommended o For people who are sensitive to cold, it is recommended to bring a thick sleeping bag in colder seasons, as it is an old stone house. However, there was an electronic heater in our room.
