A wonderful hotel in a beautiful location on the edge of a seasonal lagoon. The host was very friendly, attentive, and helpful, and arranged a private boat tour that fully met my expectations. The restaurant was very good with an Italian touch. Definitely one of the best stays in Cano Negro.

The lodges are large and well equipped. The food is delicious, home produced and cooked there. The tours are very good indeed for wildlife and birding. We went on one early morning boat tour which may be the best we’ve taken to date.

“Fantastic Nature Hotel”

This hotel is set for nature tours to Cano Negro and it does this really well. Andrea was helpful organising our boat trip and knowledgeable and the other staff were really friendly. You are out in the sticks so getting to the hotel is an adventure in itself. Mosquitoes and insects are always close by but you pay to see birds and animals and this is what you get. We sat outside the room and enjoyed watching the monkeys and birds. Food at breakfast was freshly made and good. The evening meal was the same and reasonably priced. We had a fantastic stay and enjoyed every moment. Would recommend to any bird watchers. We got several lifers!

Loved being away from the hustle of modern life.... this place is a gem. Rooms are set around an attractive garden full of birds, and there's a small pool. Rooms are clean, contain an overhead fan as well as air conditioning if you prefer. The restaurant provide delicious meals using local produce, so the menu is limited, but the food excellent. We took advantage of the early morning boat trip, with hot coffee and homemade cookies to go. A truly relaxing place to visit.

Andrea was a great host. Even before arrival he was already taking care of my accommodation and was interested in the kind of tour I wanted to do on the boat the next day. He even prepared a coffee for me at 5h30 before the tour on the boat. We saw a lot of animals and the guide had a lot of patience to allow me to take the best pictures.

We stayed for one night in a cabin close to the waterfront. The room was large, with a comfortable bed and excellent air conditioning, a fridge, and hot water in the bathroom. We were provided with a plug-in mosquito repellent for the room; we were not bothered by mozzies or other insects overnight. I hadn't appreciated the proximity of the hotel to the wetlands and lagoon ... which are accessible from the hotel gardens. This was excellent for us because we had booked in advance with the hotel to take a dawn boat trip to explore the wildlife, lagoon and river. So it was just a few steps from our room to the boat. We were the only people on our boat, with a very knowledgeable guide who was responsive to our objectives for the trip. The hotel also provided us with a welcome hot drink and snacks for the (pre-breakfast) boat trip. The restaurant of the hotel was excellent. We ate dinner and breakfast. Dietary requirements were catered for and the food was healthy and delicious. As a family-run hotel and restaurant, we felt more like house guests rather than hotel guests; service was friendly and people wanted to ensure we had a good trip. The grounds of the hotel were beautiful. We saw hummingbirds and several other birds. The night was energetic with the sound of insects and nocturnal creatures. In the morning, we awoke to Geoffroy's spider monkeys bouncing off the cabin roof on to the adjacent trees. This was a one night stop on a two week road trip. We would have loved to stay here longer because the space was so relaxing. Would definitely stay again.

Very good price value ratio. Comfortable little bungalows, great flow-through fresh water swimming pool. We watched the fly catchers hunting the water while lazily drifting in the pool. Nice owners. Excellent private boot tour of +4hrs with experienced guide to watch birds.

This relaxing hotel has such a great location within Caño Negro, close to the river, other restaurants and the visitor centre. The boat tour was fantastic. Visiting in the drier times of April, we also enjoyed walking to the lagoons and the newly constructed raised walkway in the early mornings and late afternoons - we saw lots of birds including a few hawks up close. Breakfast is lovely and fresh. Dinner is delicious with freshly made pasta on offer and lovely complimentary salad and fresh bread to enjoy. The hotel has it's own bird hides, these were great!

I love this place. It is for nature lovers and Andrea is a great great host to make sure you can immerse with nature!

The room was a good size and had a nice table and chairs for sitting outside. The garden was full of birds, you didn't have to go very far when birdwatching. We liked the fact that the room was cleaned every day and toiletries replenished, everywhere else we stayed we had to tell them if we wanted our room cleaning! We even got our clothes washed for an extra $15. Andrea, the owner, and the other staff were very friendly and helpful. We went on the 6 am boat tour which was excellent. We saw lots of birds and had a flask of lovely coffee to keep us going until breakfast on our return. We loved the location which was on a beautiful lagoon and close to the village which we walked around one morning.

Loved it , beautiful gardens, lovely restaurant, super boat trips, fantastic staff, great swimming pool, fantastic monkeys. Food really lovely they even made me a rice pudding which was yummy yummy.

Welcoming place with a nice owner. The rooms are exactly as described. We enjoyed a very good dinner and breakfast. The boot tour was magnificent.
