Great place to stay away from the hustle. You will experience a local experience by staying there. The river is just steps away, The house is traditional with a unique touch. The manager Dennis cares and give a lot of information. The bed are very comfortable and you get a sharing kitchen and shower with all facilities needed; I can easily recommend the place

“I loved it!”

It was nice staying in the Kuala Terla village/kampung, just outside Tanah Rata, away from the hustle and bustle. The accommodation is in a well restored Chinese House right next to a stream. Dennis, the owner, makes sure everything runs smoothly and he has made a detailed brochure of all the places you can visit, simplifying things heaps. This is the only place in all my decades of travelling in Malaysia that has gone to this level.

Heahtitude is a wonderful little hide out! Off the beaten path in the Cameron Highlands the location is perfect to explore the local life and relax. It is wonderful to sit on the porch listening to the river either in the sunshine or sheltered in the rain watching the river grow stronger. The place is very tidy and clean. There is a kitchen fully equipped. The rooms are cozy and the traditional house is generally well designed and decorated with artifacts of the hosts family. I felt at home right away. Dennis, the host, made sure of that! He is super super kind and we shared many good conversations about Malaysian culture, literature, architecture and society. My favorite restaurants in Kuala Terla are Restoran Jia Ji Xiang and Au Poh Wan Village Style Home Cooked Noodles.

Prior to arrival Dennis sent a PDF guide which was very comprehensive and helpful. He was also quick to respond on whatsapp when i asked about tours etc. Dennis is really lovely. He was around, but not obtrusive and really wants you to feel comfortable and at home. The house itself is a retro lovers dream. I thought it was brilliant - flashbacks to my childhood in the kitchen in particular! My bed was super comfy and i had the best nights sleep for the time i stayed there. You can hear the river from the back of the property and the garden patio area is lovely as is the view. If you smoke please note that unless you have booked the Niki Minaj room (the shed room in the garden) then you cannot smoke out the back as the smoke gets into the shed room. Personally I thought that was a very fair rule that means that non smokers are not inconvenienced (and yes i am a smoker). But dont worry, you can smoke elsewhere out the front.lol The guesthouse is a little far from the main towns so you really do need a car hire, or to use a driver or else you will feel a little stuck. Everything to see is within an easy drive from the property. And the hike up the top of the local tea house to watch the sunset is totally worth it but dont forget to bring a drink with you to cheers the view!

Love the ambience, feels like a pause in time with the decorations. The room is very comfy and enough space. Bathroom is always cold but it’s okay. Kitchen is clean and cute. It’s giving instagramable vibes. The riverside decks is very spacious for a yoga or meditations sessions.
