“As a wildlife/bird watcher and photographer this was a memorable experience”

A fantastic array of birds around the property kept me busy with my camera for 3 days. Luis and family were friendly and knowledgable about the wildlife, they were always available to help. Would recommend the night walk on which we saw 2 owls. Could have been more but unfortunately rain kept them under cover. Well worth a visit and I will be returning next year.

“An excellent venue for birdwatching”

I stayed here for 2 nights and, from my first contact via WhatsApp to saying goodbye in Cali, I was very well looked after. I arranged to be collected from my hotel in Cali and was kept well informed about the arrival time. Juan David - who has just graduated from college and is the son of Angela and Luis - is so polite and thoughtful and he is a real credit to them as parents. He took me out for a full day’s birding, starting at 5.30am, and throughout the day he was extremely professional and was very vigilant in ensuring I was comfortable and was keen to vary the schedule depending on what I wanted to do. His knowledge of the birds is excellent and he ensured I saw everything. The driver they used, Juan Sebastian, was also a real asset and similarly kept a close eye on me. The accommodation, though relatively simple, had everything I needed including a good shower with copious amounts of hot water. The bed was comfortable and the peace and quiet meant that, for the first time since arriving in Colombia over 2 weeks ago, I didn’t need to use ear plugs at night! My only slight niggle was that the room was a bit cold in the evening so I have suggested they invest in a small heater for the room, again Juan David was very receptive to my feedback and is obviously keen to learn from their guests. A real bonus is that the whole family speaks English, not a particularly common feature in Colombia (to my shame I don’t speak Spanish). Food wise they were extremely flexible about when I ate and provided a small plate of fruit one evening when I didn’t feel like a full meal. I can only wish the family the best for the future, they were most welcoming and deserve 10/10 for their hard work.

The property is set around 2400 m above sea level nearby km 18. It is surrounded by a huge cloudforest with great birding possibilities. The guesthouse is run in a very familiar way by Luis and his family. Luis is a fantastic birding guide, he can provide birding tours all around, showing you the great biodiversity of the region. It is better to book the tours in advance, just ask him about day arrangements. Getting there you need a car, or you can ask Luis to pick you up from Cali airport.

Beautyfull place to spend some days! Luis and his Wife are very passionate Birders and naturelovers and come up with a great many ideas what to do and see in that area!

Good place for birding !! Every were there are feeders . Good and variate breakfast , very good other maels . Very good en warm beds! Luis , his wife and son are very good birders . We had a super stay of 4 nights there.
