“Noisy and disappointing apartment, poor customer care from host.”

The flat is described as quiet, but on arrival we found it was located on an exceptionally busy junction with constant traffic noise. Even with the windows closed it was bad, but as it was a warm day and there is no air conditioning, the flat was stuffy and the windows needed to be open - the noise was subsequently unbearable. We quickly realised that it was going to be impossible to sleep, especially with emergency vehicle sirens blaring every few minutes. The allocated parking space was occupied and so we called the owner for advice and we were told to park in another space and that this would be fine. We did so but when we went back to the car after an hour someone had left a note on it threatening to have it towed away! It was very unpleasant to find old food in the fridge, stained tatty looking furniture and no shower screen, meaning the bathroom would be flooded on taking a shower. We left after an hour and checked into a hotel, in an attempt to rescue our holiday. On contacting the company who run this holiday let we were told there would be no refund as our complaints were unjustified as the flat was ‘good’. They refused to acknowledge any of the issues raised. It then took them several days for them to refund the 500 euro damage deposit, after we chased them several times, adding to the stress and disappointment we had already endured. The whole experience has been so stressful and expensive, with no offer of even a partial refund as a goodwill gesture. An extremely disappointing and frustrating experience that left us feeling exhausted.
