Perfect as a base to explore Bruges and visit the WW1 battlefields.

The oldest brick building in Bruges, with a wood carving by a Napoleonic soldier, tiny Flemish primitives, and great decor. Beautiful rooms and a lovely breakfast made by Frederick. Great location.

We had a wonderful stay and highly recommend this magnificent property.

Fabulous authentic and loving restoration of this 15th century property, originally the childhood home - and now a unique B & B - of the most wonderful host, Frederik. Stepping into the property is like being transported back in time, every detail of decor and furnishings perfectly curated. The room was immaculate and extremely comfortable and breakfast was superb. Frederik is an extremely engaging host and a font of both local and historical knowledge.

the most amazing way to experience Bruges in a very authentic way. Most recomended.

Frederik has turned this place into an incredible authentic and ecletic home stay with an incredible attention of details. The breakfast set up looks like a Vermeer painting, everywhere are disposed well curated objects and furniture creating the most amazing design conversations and setup. We immediatly feel like being in a home and not an hotel. Above eveything staying at De Zomere is an experience one will not forhet.

Beautiful B&B

We stayed at De Zomere for 4 nights and had an incredible experience from start to finish. Our host, Frederik, was welcoming and helpful as soon as we got through the door and continued to look after us over the next few days. He gave us fantastic tips and local knowledge about the property and Bruges itself throughout our stay, which really made our trip special. The B&B is an incredible building that we feel lucky to have stayed in. The breakfast was amazing, particularly the orange juice, and our room was very comfortable, spacious and suited us perfectly. It’s in an ideal location in the centre of Bruges but feels tucked away and quiet from the busy main square. It’s also a great location for exploring the quieter parts of Bruges, which we loved doing. PS - we loved meeting the cat, Nouk!

Would come back again

It’s like staying at a mansion or a museum, it is perfect in any case. Frederik, the owner and manager is friendly and willing to help in any way. The building has a substantial history itself which you can feel in each room and corner of the building. In walking distance to nice restaurants, beer pubs and canals

De Zomere was a wonderful place to stay we hope we can return soon

This guest house was an absolute delight to stay at. It’s tucked away in a quiet spot, yet less than a two minute stroll from the square. From the moment we arrived, Frederik made us feel completely at home. He is a truly wonderful host. The accommodation itself is exceptional. Spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated. The standout feature has to be the incredible stove/fire in the breakfast area. This guest house is a real gem, and Frederik’s warmth and hospitality elevate the experience even further. I can’t recommend it highly enough.

We were invited into a home and a beautiful one at that. Each space is a curated slice of history that sets the tone of a trip to the city. The breakfast was fantastic and the coffee strong. The Central location is more than convenient and makes shore you can enjoy every minute. The host is a kind and considerate man with good humour and history at his fingertips. A very comfy bed x 10 stars x

Great stay, great host, comfy bed and perfect location. What more could you ask for !

Location was great, breakfast delicious! I particularly liked the dedication in using such fine detailing in the decor around the B&B and in our room. Things repurposed for example light fittings, artwork on walls, locally sourced items, upcycled pieces. I felt everything was really well considered and clearly comes from a natural engineer mind. Very friendly and passionate about the B&B and the history and about Brugge itself. nothing was too much trouble. The bed was soooo comfortable. Big shower, and good room size in general.

FABULOUS host, incredible stay - would highly recommend

Incredible place to stay in Bruges. The host is magnificent. He grew up in the house and has renovated it to a high standard. His attention to detail is fantastic. There is space to store bags ahead of and post checkout, and he is only too happy to give recommendations on the area. Breakfast was fantastic including freshly squeezed OJ, eggs and bacon, pastries, cereal - everything fresh and with great attention to detail. Rooms were fabulous - so comfy and lots of space. One thing is there is a lot of stairs so would not suit someone that can't navigate a spiral staircase. I left my heavy bag on the ground floor storage area and just carried up a few bits whereas my family all had their bags upstairs. This is a truly unique fabulous place to stay and we would highly recommend it.
