Overview
Le Mascaret is a luxury guest house offering a spa with a hammam. It is a 10-minute walk from the sandy beaches that overlook the Jersey and Chausey Islands. The rooms and apartments at Mascaret all feature a private patio with views of the garden or the village church. Each is individually decorated with bright, printed fabrics and has an LCD TV with a DVD player. The guest house offers breakfast by the original fireplace in the restaurant or on the terrace. Gastronomic cuisine is also served in the restaurant. There is a 24-hour front desk at the property. Additional facilities include free Wi-Fi throughout the guest house and a laundry service. For guests with a car, private parking is free on site and Coutances is a 12 km drive away.

The write-up undersells this property if you are a foodie! It’s a Michelin Star Restaurant (since 2009) with very comfortable and stylish rooms upstairs. Husband and wife team Nadia and Philippe are very welcoming and the description Gastronomic doesn’t do the food justice, the breakfast was easily the most different and best we’ve ever had in a hotel, so much so we stayed an extra night!

The charge for breakfast (which was only advised after our arrival) was Eu25 per head which we felt was excessive. In addition, we booked this hotel because it was advertised on Booking.com as being a "Restaurant hotel". In fact, the restaurant was not available on the date we booked, and most of the restaurants in the local area were also closed. The owner tried to make a reservation at a local restaurant which they believed was open, but when we arrived at that location it was closed. The most annoying thing about this whole experience is that booking.com took full payment in advance and before we were made aware that the restaurant would not be available. This was not a cheap hotel by Breton standards, and to have no meal available and no apparent way of recovering our up front payment left us feeling very disappointed.

“Lovely hotel, fabulous food”
Lovely hotel, very French. Our pretty room on the ground floor overlooking the courtyard, was wheelchair and dog friendly - so perfect! .Pleasant, helpful staff. Real star though was the food, it was inventive and fabulous, served by knowledgeable staff who clearly had a passion for what they do. Not cheap but worth every cent.
