The apartment owner was very friendly and helpful. Any questions we had she was happy for me to txt and she’d get straight back to us.

Everything about this property. The location is excellent - by the sea and a good promenade and supermarket nearby. The gite was perfect - very well equipped and well maintained.

We came to Normandy to see the beaches where the Allies landed and for Chateau de Caen, from whence my ancestors attacked and conquered England. For that purpose, the property is well located and the pricing is reasonable. There is a fantastic, cheap supermarket called Intermarche about 1 km away you can walk to. The F1 is literally 1 minute walk from Juno Beach where the Candians landed, and a 6 minute walk from the bus stop from Caen, a 1 hour trip that costs 3.90 euros each. Beds were comfortable. It was quiet. There is a conservatory area great for drying clothes in the sun (there is a washer but no dryer). The owner's mother met us at the property and was very friendly, chatty even which some people may or may not like. Things we did not like: 1) it is very, very grotty. Hair in the bath, wet bathmat suggested the property was not cleaned after the previous stay. Kitchen cutlery was sticky with grease and we had to rewash it before use. Fridge was dirty. Crumbs and dust on the couch. 2) We had to make up the beds ourselves. 3) The lighting in the bedroom is very poor - no ceiling lights at all. 4) As mentioned, the owner's mother arranged to meet us by WhatsApp and was friendly. She then asked where we were coming from - Caen - and said she was coming from there herself and that she could give us a ride. Very kind of her. Next thing I get a text from the owner saying her mum should not have offered to pick us up and that she wasn't supposed to, but could for 20 euros! I said we would just take the bus, and she came back and said how about 10 euros? Turned what seemed like a lovely offer by the mother into a cringey process like we were bargaining in a market. We said thanks, we would just take the bus. This left a bad taste in our mouths.
