“A warm welcome into a warm and welcoming environment”

We chose to go out for breakfast but there was plenty of coffee pods and tisanes available. Marie also provided bottles of juice and water and little cakes.

It was a lovely old building furnished with a mix of interesting furniture and ornaments. Each room was different but all spacious and well appointed.

We arrived at Les Jardins de Marie after a very long day driving from the south of France to find Marie in her garden. She welcomed us with chilled sparkling water with mint in the shade of a very beautiful typically French mill house. The accommodation was up the stunning spiral staircase in the centre of the house, into an extremely comfortable bedroom with sofa, coffee table and a window looking out onto a river and woodland. It was gorgeous! The house is a very short walk into the quaint town of Bernay and all of the amenities that you would need. We spent the day there as we were staying with Marie for two nights and there was so much to see. And for the cherry on the cake Marie has a swimming pool which was very relaxing after a day of sightseeing! We loved both the accommodation and Marie.

Lovely old house in rural edge of town, which has an excellent choice of restaurants . Marie is a very pleasant and friendly host.

Marie and her family are lovely and very good hosts. I booked dinner as I was cycling and arriving relatively late. Marie cooked an amazing meal, using lots of home grown ingredients and i ate with the family. There was no problem with me asking for an early breakfast. The building is old and quirky, which adds to the atmosphere. I will definately stay again if I get the chance.

Everything really. Our room was quite big and very comfortable. The bathroom was modern with a walk-in shower. We were met by the owner who was very welcoming and made us tea. Parking is very secure on the property which was important as we were traveling to the UK with a car full of belongings. The walk to the town centre was about 20 mins but that was fine after being in the car for 8 hours.

The owner was pleasant and the bed comfortable. The shower was good and the Wifi good apart from the password which was very excessive.

Excellent welcome by the hosts, both very friendly and helpful. Lovely setting. Marie has a breadth of knowledge she is happy to share. Bespoke herbal tea made by the hostess as well as home made jams.

We loved the host and her family! Marie is an exceptional hostess, an amazing cook and a lovely jolly person. We had a few issues on our way to Marie as we were caught up in a storm near Lisieux and were not able to continue cycling. We had to find an alternative transport and as a result arrived at Marie’s quite late and starving. Marie invited us to her family meal at a small charge and also provided us with a breakfast the following morning. The Gite was gorgeous, comfortable and well situated for exploration of Normandy. It would cater well for a small group of cyclists and we would thoroughly recommend it. Bikes were safely stored in a locked garage. Thank you Marie and Jean-Paul!
