Overview
Set in the heart of the Northern Drakensberg, Cavern Resort & Spa provides family-friendly accommodation located 65 km from Harrismith and 48 km from Bergville. This historic property is over 75 years old. Providing garden views, all rooms at the resort are equipped with a patio, tea-and-coffee making facilities and en suite bathrooms. Some of the rooms come with a seating area and a fireplace. Free WiFi is available in public areas. The daily room rate is inclusive of 3 meals and 2 guided morning hikes. A set menu is served for breakfast and dinner, whilst a light lunch is served buffet-style. Guests are also treated to morning and afternoon tea. Adventure seekers can enjoy hiking and trekking, mountain biking, fly-fishing and horse trails. Guests can also relax alongside the outdoor swimming pool or make use of the tennis court. “Beautiful remote hotel in mountains”
A beautiful remotely located hotel built on the mountainside with many hiking trails in the valley and over the ridge with views to Royal Natal National Park. Three nice meals a day were offered, and the standard room we had was lovely. Staff were helpful.

We’re usually not resort people, but we made an exception here and didn’t regret it at all. The whole place is so well spread out that it never feels crowded. All the walkways, spaces and the food options are fantastic, and the people are just lovely, whether at the activity desk, in the restaurant or Simon at the gate. It was a real pleasure to spend three beautiful days there. There’s so much to do, and the hikes starting right from the resort are absolutely stunning, so you never get bored. The dogs and cats living there are also super friendly and will happily join you for a walk. We’d love to come back.
