“A very disappointing stopover”
This was a very disappointing stopover. The owners had apparently gone to much trouble to give this flat a family beach house feel to it in deserted Berck sur mer, but there were many signs that the revamp was a bit of a botched up job. What’s the point in providing artisan Alep soap in the shower room when bread crumbs haven’t been collected on the kitchen table? We were generously supplied with two cheap Nespresso-like capsules for breakfast and leftover agave syrup and olive oil used and left behind in a questionable state by the previous guests, and the kitchen linoleum was in tatters where a sofa bed that had seen better days had been repeatedly open .2 and collapsed by previous visitors as well. There were many signs that the reinovation was never going to be finished. We were provided with a WeTransfer file containing the Wi-Fi passcode but when you’re travelling you often have restricted internet access, so we couldn’t open it in time. There were safe boxes for the keys but we were not told which was the correct one out of the 3 boxes attached to the front gate, so we were left to our own devices to find out as we arrived late in the blistering wind and rain. In the end, we could never gain access to the Internet when we had an hour’s work to do. We demand compensation because this rental was not as advertised and far too expensive for what it really was.
