Overview
Owned by the Bucher family for 3 generations, Villa Serbelloni stands at the end of the Bellagio promontory, with views of Lake Como and the Alps. It features 2 gardens, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, and a spa with beauty centre. Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni - 150 Years of Grandeur was transformed into a luxury 5-star hotel in 1873. The property boasts impressive staircases and frescoed ceilings. The grand hall, the Salone Reale, features splendid chandeliers in Murano glass. Rooms are spacious and elegant, and each offers air conditioning, an LCD TV with satellite channels, and a minibar. The décor is classic, with soft carpeted floors, wooden furniture, and unique details. Some rooms offer views of the lake. The Mistral Restaurant was awarded with a Michelin star in 2005, and offers the chance to eat on a refined terrace with breathtaking views. La Goletta serves regional specialities in an informal setting. A full International breakfast buffet is served daily. The spa is available for wellness and beauty treatments. Sports facilities include tennis and squash courts, and a gym with cardio-fitness machineries.

I booked the hotel for my wife using my credit card. We were not aware of any rule requiring the cardholder who made the booking to be physically present at check-in. Upon arrival, my wife was informed of this policy. The way this was then handled was deeply disappointing. My wife and daughter were treated in an unnecessarily rigid, difficult, and unwelcoming manner. This is particularly unacceptable for a five-star hotel and a Relais & Châteaux property, where one would expect discretion, flexibility, and genuine hospitality. I understand the need for fraud prevention, but this policy is outdated and should be applied with more common sense. In practice, it created needless stress and inconvenience for my family. The hotel should urgently review both the policy itself and the way staff are instructed to apply it. A guest should never be made to feel unwelcome because of an administrative formality.

“Incredible stay in bellagio”
Staying in Bellagio really is wonderful and Serbelloni was an oasis away from the crowds. It exceeded all expectations and was lovely for our travel with our family - a grandparent, pregnant mother and toddler.
