“AMAZING waterfalls, an honest host, peaceful place and beautiful children”

I was there for only a few days but I already know I have to come back. It’s such a peaceful place. Smey is a wonderful, calm and friendly host with a heart of gold. He is an honest person who I would trust to connect you with good people for tours/trekking etc. He set up a beautiful school on his land to teach village children English after school (which you can volunteer in for an hour or so each day if you like). I taught for a couple of days there and the children are absolutely amazing. The gardens are also beautiful. (Pic 2 you can see the view from one of his high huts in the garden which you can climb up to). Smey is on hand to help with anything you need and there is a restaurant on site where his wife cooks. He gave me a room that was more expensive than the one I booked on arrival. I especially loved the balconies to the huts which have hammocks or a deckchair to sit on and chill with just enough privacy behind the plants to read but enough sociability to meet other guests if you wish. The best waterfall that I have ever been to in my LIFE is about a 10 minute drive away. There is so much to do around Banlung - some of the dirt roads and orchards to drive on/through are just incredible, the sacred lake 40m deep (pic 4) and the waterfalls are so big with great, quiet swimming spots and transcendental views.

“Fantastic place with great owner family”

The name says it all - if you are looking for a tribal village homestay, this is really the perfect place to be. The bamboo bungalows are fantastic and have a bath and mosquito nets for the bed. The owner speaks fluently english and he and his family will help you whenever and wherever they can. He is also a perfect guide for tours and jungle trekking and can tell you so much about ethnic minorities, local plants, animals and the khmer culture. Small country, big heart - that you will find here.

The decor of the place is great. Lovely flowers and trees. Very nicely decorated, like little paradise. Owners are friendly.

Mike the Owner and his Wife Wi were very friendly and helpful, he has made a little Garden of Eden in an otherwise drab landscape.

“Best homestay ever”

If I could give Tribal Village Homestay 11 out of 10, I would. Delightful ensuite bungalows in exquisite gardens, excellent food available all day & evening in the charming restaurant/bar. Smey (the host) has excellent English, is a mine of information and he and his lovely family went above & beyond to ensure my stay was perfect, being attentive without being intrusive, and unfailingly good-natured. I was privileged to engage with his students at his free school (I volunteered), which was winderful as well as fun. Many day trips on Smey's motorbike (I don't drive) tailored to my interests (history, Tribal art & culture, nature & wildlife) both on and way off the beaten track ensured that I leave - very reluctantly- with a host of memories of once in a lifetime experiences. All homestays should be this good!

Idyllic place a bit outside Banlung, the owner is happy to help with organising trips/hikes to the national park, renting motorbikes. Also very good food is available here. Perfect place to explore the surroundings with many waterfalls, or just enjoy the calm garden.

“Amazing homestay with super friendly stagf”

One of the best homestays or my 10-month travel. Very nice bungalows in a splendid garden, minimalism with taste, I loved it. Food is great and Smey will make your stay special, organising everything you need (motobike, bus, tour). You will feel at home :)

Very clean, very nice, very kind and helpful host. We had a great time. Smey organized everything for us, we did some awesome jungle tours and felt really home there.

“Very simple bamboo hut right on a noisy street”

- WiFi in my bungalow, which was right by the modem. - Restaurant with good food - Scooters for rent ($9 per day) - Helpful They had booked the minivan for me to the next town. The minivan picked me up at the hotel. - Manager speaks English.

“Off-the-beaten-path homestay”

This is a North Cambodia homestay, off the beaten paths. So it is cold water in the shower but extremelly warm staff. The bungallows are simple but spotless clean, Smey, the owener and his lovely wife help you with everything :-) (late night tuktuk pick up from the town, meals at any time, various trips, laundry or scary looking gecko on your wall at midnight :)) Smey also speaks English very well and explains everything:) so it makes the stay plainly enjoyable :) If you want to plan trips around (jungle, elephants, gem mines....), wait until you get here and discuss your plans with the owener;)

“Great getaway in a beautiful and peaceful location”

The owners were so friendly and helpful. The gardens in the homestay are beautiful and peaceful. Breakfast was great and they serve you some of the biggest pancakes you will ever see in your life. The rooms are basic but have everything necessary. They’re settled in traditional Khmer wooden houses, so gives you an authentic feel of living in Cambodia. Nearby are stunning waterfalls and the town of Banlung has a western style supermarket and restaurants. So everything you’ll need is nearby.

- Owner was very accommodating, arranged trekking tour and tuk tuks into town. Also arranged onwards travel for us. - Good food - Great work being done with the school being attached for evening classes - Location was great for feeling remote but walking distance (45mins) from town
