bungalow was super roomy and we loved the extra space on the balcony for relaxing the layout of the whole place is great, with nicely lit paths between bungalows and the restaurant, feels like its own little oasis tucked away restaurant on site also very good and well priced too always appreciate having water bottle refills available, so handy!

“Best in the village”

The best in the village. Paul the owner is amazing.and loves his industry. The bungalows are so comfortable and well appointed. Bed was the most comfy in Laos. We could not fault anything. View from the hammock on the balcony outstanding.

Here we had the best breakfast of our Trip: warm Crêpes, fresh baked bread, good coffee, delicious ginger-limegras tea, fruits, oats, Joghurt, eggs… And the Bungalows are excellent, we were sorry that we planned our stay here for only one Night.

The location is serene and idyllic; the breakfast was amazing and good value- especially given the view of the river whilst eating it! The owner is knowledgeable and staff are all accommodating and lovely. Much of the food they serve is grown organically on the property. Easy walking distance from Tad Lo waterfall and bus stop. Highly reccomended.

“Reassuringly escapist and awesome”

If you’re looking for somewhere truly serene on the Bolaven Plateau, Bolaven Gardens near Tad Lo is an absolute gem. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was pure calm. Nestled in lush greenery and away from the usual tourist trail, it feels wonderfully authentic — proper local Laos, not a manufactured backpacker stop. The pace of life slows down instantly. One of the highlights was taking a dip in the river — crystal clear, refreshing, and surrounded by nature. It’s the kind of place where you can switch off completely, listen to the water and birds, and forget what day it is. We also spent time exploring the nearby local attractions around Tad Lo, which added to the charm without ever feeling crowded or commercialised. In the evening, we enjoyed a fantastic meal at the restaurant and bar — relaxed setting, great atmosphere — and sampled their banana-infused whisky. Highly recommended as a nightcap. Smooth, warming, and just different enough to make it memorable. Bolaven Gardens strikes that rare balance between comfort and authenticity. Peaceful, welcoming, and genuinely special. If you want a relaxing, non-touristy experience on the plateau, this is the place.

“Blissfully tranquil”

It is located in a lovely area, peaceful surroundings and peaceful sitting on the balcony of my bungalow, watching the river flowing and the birds chirping. Breakfast was great: buffet style and varied. Staff are pleasant and, mostly effective and the atmosphere is good. I regretted i planned only for one night and would love to comeback. Good value for money.

Very nice project : the owner helps several youngsters to get a training on the job. Good food and lovely environment.

The acommodation is very good here. We had a large air-conditioned bungalow with a terrace overlooking the river. The bed was comfortable, the shower warm and the bathroom enormous. The owner Po is dedicated to his village, comunity and youngsters from his village who he has adopted to provide them with a better life and more opportunities. These young people are now helping out in the kitchen.

“Lovely Place”

This resort is a real find. Super nice bungalows right by the river, quiet, delicious food and a very interesting and sympathetic host. For me, one of the best places to stay in Asia.

We extended our stay and slept in the bungalow. So spacious, comfy bed, great terrace overlooking the river we couldn't ask for more! Breakfast was very good, too. Don't think twice and go there, you will enjoy it! We came by public bus and it was easy, also booking the daytrip around Bolaven with them.

Such a peaceful place! The tent was really comfortable and we had a very good sleep next to the river. Temperature was perfect, no fan needed, also not too cold as we had a good blanket on the comfy mattress. It's nice to relax at the riverside. Breakfast was a lot of fruits, pancake, eggs, cheese, bread.. Much more than we expected and very tasty. Last but not least the owner is doing a great job, supporting the community, helping with everything. He organized a daytrip around bolaven with a car for us and it was so interesting, we had a great day, thanks a lot!

“Community-focused and eco-friendly family”

Authentic and friendly staff with a strong history and connection to the Tad Lo community. Involved in many eco-friendly projects and they're happy to tell you about it if you ask. The kids here are charming and are involved in many aspects of the operation; you can tell this is a tight-knit team who enjoy spending time with each other. It's a low-key and positive vibe. The breakfast with crepes and tons of fresh fruit was excellent and didn't feel routine. I stayed in a tent and had the best sleep I've had in several weeks. Fresh air, a blanket of stars above and a cool river to swim in on hot afternoons.
