“Gem of a B&B in beautiful Ballater”
Excellent accommodation at the Schoolhouse for our weekend in Ballater. Perfectly situated a short walk from the village centre, the accommodation offers clean, comfortable and spacious rooms and communal living spaces. A lovely garden with choices of seated areas provides a welcome rest after a days walking and sightseeing in the beautiful surrounding areas of Royal Deeside. Breakfast is delicious and sets you up well for the day's adventures. Thank you to our excellent host Cathy for the warmest of welcomes and looking after us so well. Nothing was too much trouble. Will definitely be back.

“When your stay is a lovely as this you just don't want to go home.”
The School house had great history and character, is located perfectly to explore Ballater and the room was clean and comfortable. Cathy, our host was so friendly and helpful and we loved having a chat with her. Breakfast entailed various choices including cereals, yoghurt and fresh fruit and a cooked meal if wanted.

Location was great. Nice and quiet but still near the village centre. Breakfast was good and Cathy was flexible with making us porridge. Room was lovely and large. It was lovely to be able to sit outside the room on a small decking area. We also had use of an outside shed for bikes which was great. Cathy was a great host and was very helpful.

“What a discovery!”
What a discovery! We have fallen in love with the Schoolhouse and the area around Ballater. It exceeded our expectations of how lovely the Schoolhouse would be. Room No3 was the perfect place for us to stay. It felt like a beautiful home for the time we spent there. Cathy and Alan have been such lovely, welcoming, helpful and warm hosts! We decided on breakfast in our room instead of warm breakfast and Cathy made is a huge basket every day. When we came back from our road trips we found everything already in our room. The bed was sooo comfortable we would have liked to take it home with us. Every shop, restaurant and bar could be reached within a few minutes walking distance. We had dinner at The Balmoral Bar a few times and the food was excellent - the staff was absolutely great, too. We couldn't end up in a bettter place than the Schoolhouse!

We stayed 2 nights at the Schoolhouse and it was the perfect base for some trekking nearby. Kathy was very welcoming and prepared a lovely tray of breakfast things each day. The bed was incredibly comfy!
