Breakfast good (extra cost). Room small and hot, but as expected, so no suprise. Staff very friendly as we're the small pack of small dogs. Common area complete withlarge dining table and hammocks. Location good with property leading down to the lake shore where you can swim. Showers freezing, but perfect for the climate. Shared bathrooms clean.

Super friendly and helpful owners - always down for a chat, perfect location in the heart of Balgüe with an attached scooter rental next door (same prices as anywhere, pretty convenient) Big property with plenty of shaded places to chill in the hammock + water access on the other side of the property, daily cleaning of common areas and we also got fresh bedding at the mid of our stay

“Great value friendly stay”

Unbeatable value for money in a great location for some nice food in the village and scooter rental next door. Hostel helped arrange transfer to and from port. Lovely staff and a nice breakfast too including great tea! Also some friendly four legged friends in residence 🐈 🐕 you can also do some handwashing here in dedicated facilities or have some laundry done.

The owner is absolutely lovely. She helped with sorting scooters and was always around if we had any questions. The communal areas are very pretty and they have a wonderful upper deck if you want to play some games etc. Shared facilities are good though quite a few insects which is normal as we were in a jungly area (just to make others aware). Showers were super powerful and great, cool which was much needed as so hot and humid. Fan in the room which was great and mosquito net which did keep us from being bitten. They offer breakfast if requested however we didn’t have it during our stay. Good location, close to some really great restaurants. A couple of shops for water and snacks nearby. Overall a really great stay.

“Perfect”

A slice of heaven, we had the most perfect stay at this family-run hotel. Estella and her family are wonderful hosts, they are so kind and make you feel so welcome. The rooms are spacious and very clean, and there are beautiful common areas to relax in the gardens. The location is great, set in a calm part of the island close to many of the attractions. There is a variety of local and tourist-focused places to eat and drink within walking distance. But we also rented a moped from the family when we wanted to explore the island, which was a very easy process. The breakfast was great and good value for money. We appreciated that there was a filtered water dispenser, and it was always full. We extended our stay twice because we loved it so much, and we were still sad to leave by the end. Don't hesitate to stay here, it's perfect! Thanks Estella and family for having us.

Very cosy family run hostel, not a social hostel, but very comfortable if you are already travelling with friends or want some peace.

The staff were very friendly and so helpful! We rented a scooter from them for the duration of our stay. There is a nice amount of space to sit and chill outside of your room and also the cutest cat and dog!!

Good access to main road still feeling quiet and peaceful. Staff were so lovely and helpful without being overbearing. Stayed at 3 hotels in same budget and was by far our favourite. Rooms with private bathrooms very spacious.

Very friendly hosts, cheap breakfast menu (140-150 cordobas August 2025) and good value. They provide mosquito nets in the room which are needed. Nice chill out area outside with hammocks and tables. 2 fans in our room which were appreciated.

Great shared spaces, the lake is accessible right at the back of the property for a fresh swim with locals, the staff are really friendly and helpful and have food, scooters, etc on offer for reasonable price. Balgue was a great location for tranquility but proximity to attractions of Ometepe. Cute dogs :) good value for money.

Nice garden and hangout area, place to do laundry, friendly workers and nice breakfast for 130 cordoba, it was clean.
