“A rustic undiscovered gem in paradise.”

The wonderful location, easy walking distance to a beautiful beach. The sparkling pool. The delicious breakfasts. The cold beer. Most of all, the incredible staff who could not do enough for us, thanks Dinita, Lelita and also to Charlie, the beautiful dog! We are already dreaming of coming back!

Had an amazing stay...staff and owner were always helpful and accommodating to our needs - from food to transport, local support & information to last minute requests for late night snacks and drinks. Despite our room been right on the ocean... a peaceful 150m walk down the road we found what felt like our own private beach which we visited at least twice a day! Thank you Danitha and staff for a wonderful stay. We will be back!

We had an amazing stay at Ocean Caves. Nothing was too much trouble to organise or help us with. I had a room on the ocean side which was fantastic! It is round the corner from a beautiful beach with no one on it. Thank you!

“A peaceful hotel”

A peaceful hotel in a very quiet location with simple, clean rooms. A few minutes away is an empty paradise beach. A longer walk is the village with shops and restaurants. There are not many tourists there, so it was genuine. The staff were friendly and helpful

“Great Beach Nearby - Feels Like a Private Beach”

Everything is great and very close to a beach which is like a private beach. Breakfast is massive and tastes well.

The host was very friendly and helped us plan our sudden vacation. Rooms were okay. View from the beach front room was superb with the sunset. Host guided us to s hidden gem of a beach in walking distance. Food and the pool were really good. Would recommend the place if you are on a budget and enjoys calm and quiet beach views.

“Good value for money, clean and comfortable rooms.”

We stayed 4 nights.This part of the west coast of Sri Lanka is quite busy with a very busy main road running close to the coast, so at first we thought it would be noisy, whereas its location is away from the main road and so we did not notice any traffic noise. The beach is a short walk, and is lovely and wild despite being close to the town. Ocean caves is split into two by a little access road, but it is easy to cross this into an area with a fabulous ocean view with rocks and waves, and seating area to watch the sunset from. The river safari is a 10-15min walk away with a good restaurants beside the river. The chef at Ocean Caves will cook an evening meal if given notice (we had a very tasty Sri Lankan curry). Swimming pool is lovely. There is some building going on across the road so there was some noise from that but we did not find it annoying. The local bus no 02 is the cheapest way to go to Hikkaduwa (snorkelling) and Galle and was a fun way to travel. Very friendly and accomodating staff.

“Home on the coast”

Feeling of privacy while also having nice shared spaces; garden, pool. beach access. Kind of place where you can easily spend weeks or months.

The hotel was very close to an empty beach and the pool and pool side area were beautifully clean and shaded, so a refreshing place to relax, while kingfishers darted down to the water to catch insects. It is located within a local rural community so we immediately felt we were finding out about Sri Lanka's people and their way of life. The staff were very helpful - checking timetables etc and on one occasion driving us to the nearest station, so we did not need to book a taxi. The hotel is not close to a village so there were limited shops and no restaurants close by but the food we were served for breakfast and dinner was fabulous. The chef was very experienced and produced magnificent food, from traditional Sri Lankan to more westernised options. A great base to make a day trip to Galle and Ambalangoda

Very nice location, basically private jungle beach near by.

We spent 3 nights there and were very satisfied. Our room also had a small covered terrace. The room and bathroom were large and clean. Very good value for money. It was quiet there, the staff was nice and very helpful. Very good place for rest. There is a restaurant with good food (super good Sri Lanka breakfast). Very close to empty and beautiful beaches with the rocks. The hotel is also not in so very touristy area, which was also very pleasant.

“We enjoyed our stay here”

Location is near good beach and at the other side are more few same beaches. Hotel has terrace with viewpoint. Pool side of the yard looks like a jungle. Delicious sri lankan breakfast.

“Home away from home”

Felt at home straight away. Dinitha, the manager, couldn’t have been more accommodating. The food, cooked by Neel, was wonderful, fresh and tasty. Nothing was too much trouble. The pool was nice and only a short walk to a beautiful beach. Some of the neighbours were a little annoying for a solo traveller but I felt very safe and cared for by Dinitha and Kevin.
