“Erholungs-Booster”
A truly special place in the middle of nature. From the moment I arrived, I was warmly welcomed. The staff took the time to explain the impressive 100-meter-long building, which is constructed primarily from wood and blends beautifully into the surrounding forest. My stay included guided meditation, breathwork sessions, a traditional tea ceremony, and exceptionally well-prepared dinner and breakfast experiences. One highlight was the beautiful communal bath with high-quality skincare / body products. Surrounded by forest and large floor-to-ceiling windows, it felt as if you were bathing and sleeping directly in nature. A peaceful retreat and a wonderful place to slow down.

“One of the best experiences I have ever had in Japan”
I need to start first with just expressing that this is the best customer service I have ever experienced in my life. I'm from New York where we have extremely high standards for customer service and Zenbo Seinei went ABOVE AND BEYOND any expectations. I booked what I thought was a night at the hotel and they contacted me to tell me in fact it was not available. It is a retreat center and not a hotel although twice a month they do have overnight retreats. I was then stuck without a place to stay for that night on Awaji Island and in fact, I was coming just to photograph the retreat center for a project I am working on. They were like family and worried about me being alone on the island and pulled some strings to get me a suite at a neighboring luxury hotel for the night with dinner and breakfast. They next day they gave me a ride to the retreat center where I participated in a wellness retreat consisting of 90 minutes of mindful yoga, a vegan lunch by a star chef, and then a 30-minute meditation center. The food was the best meal I had since being in Japan for the past three months, the staff was unbelievably friendly and kind, the building was beautiful and the retreat was so restorative. I wish I could give more than 5-stars!
