Villa Medicis is a wonderful place. Situated in a beautiful old convernt, its an old people's home that lets out a handful of trooms to tourists. The staff were most gracious, breakfast was very good and the room/s were perfect. We will happily return.

“A quiet pleasant stay in Autun old town.”

As others have said, the room is in an old monastery which is now an old people's home. This isn't a problem, especially if you are aware in advance. Our spacious room, with kitchenette and bathroom, was on the first floor with lovely views across the town. It was very central in the old part of the town, so easy to walk anywhere. There is a gated area next door to leave your car for 5 Euros per day. We ate a picnic in the inner courtyard, which has a rose garden and tables and chairs. Other events are going on around you, but don't interfere with the peace and calm. Breakfast was a croissant, roll, jam, ham, cheese, juice and hot drinks. We really enjoyed our stay.

The location was perfect the historic building and the cloisters from the original religious order when it was built in 17th century The staff who told us about the incredible history of the building

The building was beautiful as was the location. The apartment was very spacious. It would have been nice to have some literature on the history of the building (it was a former boys school and also a prison). The reception staff were very friendly. The apartment was up two flights of stairs so not suitable for anyone with mobility problems. Car parking was secure and off the road, but you have to book in at reception first before getting the code (the streets are very narrow and twisty and also a one way system). Very close to the town centre with more beautiful architecture.

The scenery and location were very nice. Parking was available which was a plus and going towards the city center was at walking distance including some of the museums.

“Quirky but good”

A strange place initially being partly residential for old folks and an ex monastery. However the apartment was very nice and comfortable. We had a bit of trouble not being able to speak French but the resident chaplain helped us out. Private parking was good
