Easy self chack-in (no staff present), walking the Walliser Sonnenweg this is the only option in Ausserberg. We had very low expectations about breakfast, but although there wasn't any staff, we did enjoy it (and were even allowed to take lunch with us too). Free water included. The hotel is located at the train station (a quiet one), so we went to Brig for having dinner. Brig is easy to reach and a very nice place.. Given the concept as it is, you need to like the "no staff policy".

“Never again: Stingy and rude!”
The hotel has a great view over the valley and a restaurant. The food in the restaurant was good and there were many options based on seasonal produce. We could place our bikes in the garage. At breakfast, there was very good homemade rye bread.

Very convenient hotel if you want to hike the Lötschberg Süd route. Rooms are simple, but kept clean and with all that is required. I enjoyed the opportunity to sit on the balcony with a view on the BLS railway line and the Rhône valley. Restaurant has a classical Swiss menu
