1) It's not a campsite, so it's unfair to charge extra for sheets and towels. 2) You can't park your car in front, so it's difficult to carry your bags. 3) There's no hairdryer in the room, and the amenities are dated.

“Interesting”
-Beautiful location, our cabin was just 200m from the start of the trail up to Presten which had a more spectacular view than the Stegastein view. -Well equipped cabin

“OK stay”
Location is close to stegastein viewpoint, but the house is in isolated place. If you have low clearance vehicle you need to be careful.

“Our holiday had to be interrupted due to extremely challenging driving conditions”
We liked the farm and the friendly goats. The owner was available and helpful to provide us with information about the local garage. The garage didn’t find any fault but we had to interrupt our stay due to extremely challenging steep drive past Stegastein.

“Not recommend unless major improvements are made to the hospitality, hygiene, clariy of instructions”
The view was nice, and to be fair, the hostess did show some friendliness at the very end.

“Lots of beds, very good cost performance if staying with lots of people, but hard to get to.”
The view at this place is incredibly. Although not facing the fjord itself you have all of the highlands around. Being on top of the mountain past all the viewpoints you get as high up as you can. There's a grill and table outside to enjoy the view.

Location, location, location! This property has spectacular views from every window in every direction, we absolutely loved it, high up in the hills away from everything - in the hottest week in July we could see snow! Despite its remote-ness it's only a 15 minute drive down to Aurland and a supermarket and wine shop and fjord-side attractions. We were in the three-bedroom house, but I understand that there are also smaller apartments under the same listing that I can't comment on. It was lovely to be welcomed, in person at the main farmhouse by Kari, the owner's daughter, who drove ahead for the next few hundred metres to lead us to our accommodation. We had a sheltered balcony, a huge well-equipped kitchen/diner/lounge and the bedrooms, though basic, were comfy and clean and the shower was good and hot. Also, despite being on the cool breezy hillside we were really warm and cosy - some rooms have under-floor heating and the main room a wall-heater and the house must be very well insulated. (There's also a log burner for winter). Some of the 'negatives' that other reviews have mentioned are things that added to our positive experience! 1) It's true that there is a steep dirt track up to the house from where you park the car, but Kari (the owner) offered to help carry our luggage (we declined) and it all just helped make the house seem even more remote and magical. 2) It's true that you have to pay for towels and bedlinen separately but at 100 NoK (£7) per person, the total cost is still very reasonable for what you get! 3) It's true, there is an incredibly twisty-turny narrow road up from Aurland to the house - but this road is part of one of Norway's official "Most Scenic Routes" and people were able to get camper vans up there, so it's fine if you just take your time and enjoy the novelty of switch-back corners with ever-increasing fjord views!

“We highly recommend Byørgo Gard for its great value, beauty, and comfort.”
Our stay was outstanding. The apartment was clean, well maintained and comfortable. The beds were of high quality and the living room was spacious. I slept in the bottom bunk bed, my son took the upper level room; we both slept soundly and comfortably. Our host was so very thoughtful, responsive and helpful! The views were spectacular. Highly recommended!
