The Chateau was beautiful with large cool rooms and a spacious garden in a quiet rural location, but only 15 minutes from the sea and WW2 historical sights. The owners were marvellous hosts and not only served a lovely breakfast but also plenty of helpful advice and information on places to visit in the surrounding area. We will definitely return and have friends keen to travel there with us. We were also pleased to be greeted by their wonderfully friendly dog.

Breakfast in the 17th century dining room. Our hosts who regaled us with many historical facts and stories. Newton the dog who sat beside the fountain looking out for a kingfisher who was seen.

Not run of the mill

The cuisine of the proprietor is of high quality. The tâble d'hôtes is excellent and we decided to eat there every night. The stories around the Château are interesting. The family's endeavour to keep the Château in running order is courageous. The strong points of the Château are idiosyncratic. Those who prefer a less personal and more streamlined hotel experience may differ. The dog is friendly and enthusiastic but does not slobber or seek unwelcome contact. It never barks.

Chateau in quiet location.

Carl & Sabine were very welcoming. The accommodation was comfortable however this is a historic building so is not as modern as some would like. Breakfast was simple but delicious with fresh local produce. Carl cooked a three course meal during our stay which was exceptional and gave us a mini history of the chateau. Added benefit of a quiet secluded location but within easy reach of all the d day landing beaches and museums. Makes an ideal base for exploring this part of Normandy.

Great place with a lot of character, and old charm. We were met at the gate by the local dog, and the host was very kind and accommodating to our stay. The breakfast was a nice simple spread as well.

Beautiful little castle a few km from Omaha beach with superfriendly and helpful owners

Beautiful little castle situated a few km from Omaha beach. Very nice owners. Good breakfast served in dining room - where you feel like an aristocrat. Very comfy beds.

Good location however somewhat short of normal conveniences for this price point.

Carl was a wonderful host and provided great advice for efficient day trips in the area as well as organising dinner reservations on our first night. Breakfast was basic but adequate and the coffee was good. We stayed in the room with two beds and although it was large it did not meet our expectations for ease of use. The bathroom door entry was very low and I collided with it on two occasions with painful result. There should be padding on the door frame to avoid one injuring oneself as I did. Being able to secure and lock the room door would also be preferential. We have travelled extensively and have been victims of theft so are sensitive to not being able to lock the bedroom door. There are also very few electrical outlets for charging phones, iPads and camera batteries. I appreciate the beauty and age of the chateau but would have been happier with more conveniences normally available at this price point.

Fantastic stay in a little bit of French history

Our last stop in our week trip to France and we had such a lovely time. The hotel is run by a couple who have dedicated their passion for retaining the history of this lovely chateau. The accommodation is comfortable and an experience not to be forgotten, the large room was airy, and even during the very hot weather we had during our stay, the room was cool by the evening so sleeping was not an issue. The special nightly sounds from the bull-frogs and frogs lulled us to sleep. The bed was very comfy and the breakfast sublime. Very friendly hosts who booked us a table at a seafood restaurant in Grandcamp-Maisy on our first night. An excellent location to visit the Normandy coast and historic beaches.
