All of the staff members were really kind and helpful.

It was overall nice, nice food, nice pool area, nice parking, nice layout.

Everything was excellent. We had a great stay in one of the detached suites with breakfast and dinner included. The quality of the food was superb and the chef always created very tasty and original dishes. The staff was kind, helpful and very welcoming. The location was practical, right in front of the bus stop, and a few minutes away from the beach. The atmosphere was relaxed and quiet and the room was big and clean. We hope to come back soon!

We had a wonderful stay at the hotel. The breakfast was delicious with a great variety of options every morning. The staff were extremely attentive, friendly, and always ready to help with any request. The level of hospitality was truly outstanding and made us feel very welcome throughout our stay. We would definitely love to come back and highly recommend this hotel to others.

“Wonderful stuff, close to the beach”

Stated for 10 nights in April. Overall, good experience. Very helpful staff at the reception - excellent work from all the guys. Rooms, however look much older in reality compared to pictures - and a lot depends on which one you get. I stayed at first in a room with the pool, but felt uncomfortable there, as it was basically by the path to the main road and didn’t feel cosy. Then I was transferred to one with the windows to the main pool and enjoyed it much more. The bus stop is very close to the hotel - easy to commute to the center. And parking available. Rooms were cleaned daily. For my birthday, Ellie from the reception offered me to spend a night in their sister property downtown - it was lovely experience : window overlooking a beautiful old church. Overall, thankful for my stay. Proximity to the beach and breakfast included were helpful.

“Without a doubt, the best choice”

The staff were wonderful. The service staff and the kitchen staff (Chef Mario) were very friendly. We loved everything about our trip to Crete, but the hotel made it truly spectacular. Highly recommended!! We highly recommend dining at the hotel restaurant. We explored the city and ate out several times, but when we decided to try dinner at the hotel, we were speechless at how exquisite the dishes were. The staff who served us were absolutely wonderful.

The Malena Hotel is in a good location, with several supermarkets/shops/restaurants nearby. The bus stop into Heraklion city centre is directly outside the hotel, and it is a 5-minute walk to the beach. The breakfast is buffet-style and includes a good selection of items to suit all tastes; it is nice to be able to sit outside by the pool if the weather allows. The room we had was comfortable; the hot tub was fantastic, and it was great to be welcomed by a complimentary bottle of wine!

Overall, the room itself was clean and comfortable, and housekeeping standards were good, which we appreciated. However, there were several aspects that did not meet expectations. Firstly, the room was advertised as having a garden view, but unfortunately our balcony overlooked a neighboring gas station, which was quite disappointing, especially considering the presence of a jacuzzi meant for relaxation. The food was another major letdown. Both breakfast and dinner lacked quality and flavor. For example, the bacon served at breakfast was undercooked to the point of being inedible. Overall, the meals felt poorly prepared and did not match the standard one would expect from this type of hotel. We also found the staff somewhat distant at first. The interaction improved slightly once we spoke a bit of Greek, but a welcoming and consistent level of service should be the standard for all guests. Additionally, the hotel is clearly marketed as adults-only, including signage at the entrance. For this reason, it was surprising to see a family with very young children at breakfast, as this contradicts the concept and expectations of an adults-only environment. In summary, while the room itself was satisfactory, several key aspects, particularly the food, service consistency, and adherence to the adults-only policy, need improvement to align with what is advertised.

I had a very pleasant stay. The staff was welcoming, friendly, and always helpful. The hotel is beautiful, clean, and well located, close to the airport and within walking distance of the beach. The breakfast was varied, and the dinner was good overall.

“Lovely winter break”

The staff were lovely in the restaurant area and reception. The cleaning staff were also nice, but they didn't clean the room everyday and we had to request coffee as they never replenished this.

“Of jacuzzis and cats, an oasis of relaxation after hiking”

Having a private jacuzzi on your balcony is hard to beat. We loved the cats that were around and were very well taken care of and the staff was absolutely brilliant! Always friendly and attentive and every request we had was met with a great and fast solution.

Breakfast was great, people were always helpful. My stay was pleasant.
