Overview
Located in Amden in the St.Gallen Canton, 400 metres from Sesselbahn Mattstock, Schäfli features ski-to-door access and water sports facilities. The hotel has an outdoor pool and views of the mountains, and guests can enjoy a meal at the restaurant. Certain rooms have views of the lake or garden. “Be carefull for booking the room.”
Even though I booked the for eight people (2 of them kids 4 & 9) years old, they just alloacated 2 rooms but only 3 beds for 8 people. They considered kids will sleep with the parents, whic is not acceptable. when I asked the 2 beds in one room is big and the kids can sleep with the parents. If I booking the 2 rooms for 8 people it should be at least 4x 2 person beds, regardless of the bed size. I had to pay extra to change room which is available for 4 person. Not happy with the hotel because of this tricky behaviour.

“Clean and not too expensive hotel in Swiss mountains, close to the motorway if you are driving”
- It was the cheapest place I could find in Zurich area in July.... I know.. it's not close to Zurich, but you have to weigh the cost of driving vs the cost of staying, plus if you are planning on driving anyways, it won't matter that much. - Amden village is in the mountains, so if the weather is good the views can be very nice (it was pouring for 4 days so we didn't get to enjoy it unfortunately) - It is a clean, cosy, family-run little hotel, and the room was big enough to fit 2 adults and 2 kids... Savings are good... for those of us who are struggling to get to grips with how expensive Switzerland is... - The host is trying to be very friendly

Great location with private parking and beautiful views. Just a 5-minute drive to the slopes' parking and within 300 meters of supermarkets. The hotel is run by a lovely and helpful family, providing a good breakfast for a small fee and an optional dinner in their dining room. Guests can also use the space to enjoy their own food. Overall, a great stay!

The hotel was very clean and comfortable although the furniture was basic. The bed was very comfy and I had a great sleep. Owner was delightful and very accommodating.
