Located in the pretty Lake District village of Ambleside, this 18th-century hotel is situated in the centre of this historic town, with all the amenities on your doorstep. “Ideal central spot with tasty food and dog friendly”
Great location. All food was excellent particularly the breakfast. Staff were friendly and helpful and even provided a cut up bowl of sausage for the dog. Blanket and bowl in room for dog too.

“Great location, good food on your doorstep, and a cosy base for exploring the Lakes”
A convenient, well-located inn in the heart of Ambleside. The room was clean and well-equipped with everything you need for a short stay, and breakfast was solid. What sets it apart is a proper pub just a flight of stairs from your bedroom. Good food across all three meals, no need to venture out. Simple, comfortable, and does exactly what it promises.

“Another lovely birthday stay.”
We came here last year, and because we enjoyed it so much we came back. Breakfast is excellent, rooms are extremely clean, location excellent for walks, pub and restaurants.

Although the outside was being worked and you could see the external building, the inside was neat and tidy , clean and warm .

“We could not stay”
The hotel was closed when we arrived at 9.30pm because of a major power outage in Ambleside. We completely accept the closure could not be avoided. However we received no notification just a missed call and no message. There was no one at the hotel. We were abandoned to find other accommodation at 9.40pm. We felt badly let down.

“Comfortable stay with excellent location”
Our room was spacious and very comfortable for our stay. The hotel’s location is perfect, right in the heart of Ambleside, so there are many shops, cafés, and restaurants just a few steps away. The breakfast was also very good, with enough variety and delicious options. Overall, we had a very pleasant stay and would happily come back again.

Paid £125 for 1 night in half term in the middle of Ambleside. Great location. Good size room. Modern bathroom. Breakfast was included in the price. Breakfast was a good selection set up and could order anything off the menu.

“A lovely hotel with great staff”
Great location with a lovely bar area. Family room was spacious and lovely big bed. Staff were lovely and always friendly and helpful.
